Will Lego RB allow you to play an unrated song or does it insist on Family Friendly?

Only FF. But since RBN isn't even up for consideration, it's not fair to include it. I certainly don't put RB3 DLC in with Legacy RB DLC.

On top of that, some...600? or so official songs are RB3-only, so that's another slice to take out.

Under whose consideration??? I don't understand your logic. Most of the RBN songs are RBN 1.0, which can all be played in RB1 and RB2, but none of them can be played in Lego. RB3 on-disc, post RB3 DLC and RBN 2.0 songs can only be played in RB3, so they should be removed from consideration, but I have no idea what that number is. There have been around 1200 songs added since around that time last year but some hundreds of RBN 1.0 songs were added before RBN 2.0 songs started trickling out some months after RB3 launched.

Sure, but most people complain about online workings as is.

I, personally, have never had problems with online workings... so it's a negative for me.

Why is (one-time export) a negative?

Not everyone wants to spend their money on a new copy, and for people simply interested in the export, they have to go about buying a code, then spending the money on the actual export... and from what I understand it's just a big hassle and I've read some stories of people being ripped off.. regardless.... I think if you have a physical copy of the game in your console, then you just pay the $10 or whatever to export, and that's it. But that's just my opinion.

Just a bit distracting, and like the poster below you said, it can be a visual strain. Especially if you're accustomed to the way the notes look in every other RB game.

Aside from the RBN songs, there are still a very high number of RB DLC, RB1, 2, Green Day, and (I only assume here) RB3 export songs that are unable to be played on LRB. I understand they have their "rating system", but some of the songs I have that are excluded puzzle me... since they have no vulgar language or subject matter, and yet still are unable to be played.

That (no-fail mode)'s in every non-RB1 engine game.

Right, but it's an option that has to be selected before starting the song or playlist... otherwise your bandmates will have to waste their Overdrive on bringing you back into the song. It's frustrating going through a 5+ minute song only to fail in the last 20 seconds because someone flubbed up on their solo and no one has an Overdrive to burn.


Those are my only gripes. I know you didn't have to dissect my post, but I suppose you felt like you did in order for me to explain yourself.... or to feel better about yourself... who knows?

All in all, seemed a bit unnecessary, dontcha think?

Lego will not let you play NR or SR rated content. It also only supports RB1/2 era DLC.

So, no RBN. However, Greenday, RB1, and Track Pack exports are supported.

As for the export, the "Must be new to export" keeps money in HMX's pocket, and I think is a perfectly acceptable way to handle it. Otherwise, HMX is basically out a large chunk of sales on Lego for folks who buy it used, or share.

Official RB1/2 DLC only: 538/1140, so 47.2% of eligible DLC is playable in RB.

The kicker is more of an issue with packs, since most packs mix FF and SR songs.

FYI, the Wii version doesn't allow any DLC to be used.

The story that this game had really got my hopes up for RB3. I thought they would be smart and re-do this story in a more "T" rated fashion. The lego cut-scenes and characters are the best, but i thought this could easily be replicated to RB3. I was hoping the whole record and album/have a band room type customization would also carry over, o well.

If they are going to make a new rock band anytime soon, I honestly have to say that thier best bet would be to make a Lego RB 2, and then make some sort of death metal track pack to keep people happy.

Lego RB 2, with a killer set and all the fun and customization of the first, would sell like hot cakes

Yes, RB3 was a HUGE disappointment... I was expecting a better game than RB2 but ended up with a worse game than RB1... or GH3... or anything.

How is Rock Band 3 worse than Guitar Hero III? Is GHIII better because it has two instruments (one of which requires another player) over ten? The "tour" that consisted of just playing all the songs in order, a format that can easily be re-created in RB3? Overpriced, sporadically-released DLC that could only be bought in packs? Hit-and-miss covers instead of 100% master recordings? Animations that look like Disney World animatronics?

Ok...so I've started playing L RB as a result of reading the original post and have enjoyed it so much I invited some family members to join me this evening. We had an entire band going, and I'm happy to report that a good time was had by all. It's a big deal when I can get family members to sit down and play together...on the same game.. in the same room. haha

I never got around to finish the story in this game (or in Green Day for that matter)... maybe I should go back and do so sometime.

Lego RB has the best story mode indeed! It's fun and the songs are great! Only one note, it isn't playable online....
