    tdc002's Ultimate Setlist: Take 002

So pretty much out of bored, I decided to make another Ultimate Setlist. This isn't an updated version of my other ultimate setlist, there are no repeat tracks and I tried to hold back on repeat artists. I tried to be realistic (i.e. No Floyd, Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, etc) and keep a lot of variety.

Anyway, for all intents and purposes this is my idea of a great RB4 setlist. This isn't a Rock Band 5 setlist (though there are no repeats from my RB4). It's just another list of tracks I think would be cool for the franchise.

I'll probably just stick without a poll. I found on my other Ultimate Setlist thread that People would just vote 1s and 2s (out of 5) and not bother replying what exactly they didn't like. Maybe this will encourage more discussion. Or the thread will just die, who knows.

Eh, my thread is dead and I don't have a poll, but then again, I advertise my list as mediocre. /shrug

It's not bad (any list with Blinded by the Light and Bat Out of Hell I would immediately buy), but, being a metal fan, I cannot give it a perfect score with the lack of decent metal. The Alternative rock choices practically double the Metal choices and, with Alt rock being my least fav genre of all time, that personally turns me off heavily. I think it could be a little more balanced in that sense. Also, you could've chosen a much better Metallica song.

    So, 7.5/10

This list actually has less Alternative than RB3 and just as much as RB2, so Alternative outnumbering Metal is really not out of the norm at all.

Anyway, Blinded By the Light is waaaayyyy over due for Rock Band, especially now that we have keys. I actually had no idea it was originally written by Springsteen; I found that out while I was making this list.

And I basically picked Bat Out of Hell to be this lists epic, long Freebird-style song.

But at least Rock Band 2 had equal metal choices. That was the thing about RB2. Every genre was treated fairly, both Alternative and Metal got considerable amounts of songs, and the choices were excellent. I even enjoyed some of the Alt songs on RB2, despite hating the genre. That was where RB3 failed, partially: ignoring a certain genre (Metal) in favor of more Indie and New Wave.

And I see the same thing here. Far too much Alt rock and none of it I would want to play. Of course, I'm just one person and the Rock Band Forums are dominantly Alternative Rock fans. But I would still prefer more Metal to make it more balanced, especially if you're going for realism.

And yeah, Bat Out of Hell is defintiely the list's Free Bird. It's longer, and arguably more epic, than Free Bird, so win there.

Yes please! Lots of good tracks. Extra points for including Barenaked Ladies, Mumford & Sons and Neutral Milk Hotel. The only thing that I don't like is on-disc novelty songs. But that's up to the creator of the setlist.
So long, farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, good night.
