Rock Band 2 and the Rock Band Network

So I have rock band 2 for my xbox 360 and the rbn doesn't load on it and when I downloaded the rock band music store it says currently unavailable for every song so do I have to get rock band 3 to get rbn songs or am i doing something wrong. Also if i did get rb3 would i just be able to use my rb2 instruments to play the songs or would i only be able to play the songs that are rb2 compatible and not any rb3 compatible songs.

You can use all your instruments on Rock Band 3. There's no reason why ROCK BAND instruments wouldn't work in future Rock Band games. Just buy 3. It's $20.

RB2 doesn't support new RBN any more, although afaik it should still allow you to buy old RBN songs (before mid-February of this year). Yes, you can keep the same instruments if you buy RB3.

i live in canada and just wondering, on the music store a few songs say that they aren't rb2 compatible does that mean i will need the keyboard and stuff for them or will i still be able to use rb2 instruments

Any RBN song released from March onward does not work in RB2. You'll need RB3 to play them.

No you can use RB2 instruments.

Just because a song might have keys doesn't mean you have to play them.

You need the new instruments to play the new charts. You can still play guitar with your guitar, or drums with your drums, but you can't play Pro guitar without buying a Pro guitar.

Though after a point, you unlock the ability to play five-button Keys on a guitar.
