I believe all RB instruments will work with GH (aside from pro ones) and vice versa.

Yeah, I suspected as much. Just like RB, you must need to purchase a code for exporting. I am thinking of buying used GH 5 and picking up a new copy of GH: Van Halen and maybe World Tour for export. There are about 10 DLC tracks I want in addition to these. Kinda expensive just to get some new songs, but I'm getting sick of waiting for good music for Rock Band. Every week seems like another disappointment for me.
Compatibility Chart
That should answer all those questions.
I picked up used copies of GH 5 and World Tour today. Am I doing something wrong, or are expert vocals on Guitar Hero WAAAAAY more difficult than RB? I typically ace most songs on RB--high 90's to 100%. I thought I did "Hurts So Good" perfectly and got a lousy 81% on expert!![]()
The vocals is one of the biggest complaints with the GH games.

that's true, the vocals were less responsive for the first few games... WoR they were finally perfect though...
DLC:
500+ Rock Band songs/exports/bonusDLC
200+ Guitar Hero songs/exports/bonusDLC
Guitar/Bass/Drum/Vocal: E,M,H&X
Well I'm beginning to see why Guitar Hero went the way of the dinosaur. Apparently, the tracks from the Van Halen game aren't exportable. Also, from what I'm reading the World Tour game will only export 35 of the 80+ songs (no Beat It, no Hotel California, no Hot For Teacher...the songs I bought the game for). Is this accurate? I wanted to use one of my PS3's for Guitar Hero game and some DLC to complement Rock Band 3, but this crazy BS will have me popping different discs in constantly. What a joke!
Yeah, before I switched Rock Band from Wii to 360 I used to have all the Guitar Hero stuff on PS3, the drums (atleast the WT ones) are often times unresponsive (the whole "Hit these particular notes harder for realism" thing is kinda BS too), vocals sucked, though GH5 kinda fixed that, charting, for the most part is way worse than Rock Band and so on.
I was perfectly okay with this.
THE EXPORTS HOWEVER
Charge way too much considering you're only getting a fraction of the songs, Van Halen and Aerosmith don't export at all (I understand Aerosmith, but Van Halen? It didn't even come out until AFTER GH5!), World Tour doesn't export any of the actual good songs like Muse, Paramore, System Of A Down, KoRn, they couldn't even get bands like The Guess Who that were in Rock Band 2 and exported to 3! The only good songs that exported that aren't also on Rock Band are "L'Via L'Viaquez" by The Mars Volta, "Santeria" by Sublime, and "Do It Again" by Steely Dan. There are quite a few spectacular bands on the list (Metallica, The Eagles, Michael Jackson, Muse) but they don't export!
Then came Smash Hits, a game created SPECIFICALLY to be a track pack for having old songs with the new gameplay (Which they didn't put Knights Of Cyndonia on, for some crazy reason), and not only do you have to PAY for export, barely any of the songs actually did! The whole reason I bought that game was for "Killer Queen" and it wouldn't let me export! Why bother relicensing old tracks if you aren't even going to allow the export? It's nonsense. I mean I love the setlists to the Guitar Hero games (GHIII and GH5 are so much better than RB1 or 2 in terms of on-disc songs), but everything off disc is a nightmare. Right before GHWoR came out my PS3 YLOD'd, so I went and bought the RB3/Key bundle when I saw it. Best decision ever. Guitar Hero is such a piss poor alternative to Rock Band it's not even worth bothering. Yes they have The Eagles, Muse, The Mars Volta, MJ and other amazing exclusives, but clearly the did not know what to do with them.
So yeah, my opinion is that you stop spending money on that franchise as soon as possible. It's just not worth it. I'd personally rather hold my breath that Harmonix will get some of these exclusives in the future than go to an inferior product just with "Plug In Baby" and "Sympathy For The Devil" (and the acoustic version of "About A Girl" which is definitely something GH had over RB)
Side Note: Sympathy For The Devil is my favorite Stones song, but it is such a terrible, terrible choice for a rhythm game that doesn't have keys. That being said, it would be the perfect song for Rock Band if we ever got TRS again, hint hint nudge nudge Harmonix.
Thanks Harmonix for funally giving us Sublime/311/FoS/MB20! LOVE YOU GUYS!
Now please give me The Ting Tings!
Less room for error but GH5 is really tough on vocals and that's a tough song
