I first played Rock Band at my younger brother's house around the holidays. I had only just played Guitar Hero a few months before that, and although I didn't get the appeal of five button plastic guitar action, I was excited by the prospect of being able to play the drums and sing when told that a new game was coming out with these features. I had wanted to play the drums since I was a teen, but my living situation never allowed it. I was also concerned about investing in something that I might have no ability with. I picked up the drums on Medium right away, and new that I had to break down and finally buy an Xbox 360 (I rarely played video games). I dropped a lot of money at Best Buy to get the system and the bundle, but I played the hell out of it. We're talking sometimes eight hours a day. It made me realize that I had what it took to become a drummer, and so I sought out a drum teacher, who quickly helped me to break my self-taught bad habits. Interestingly enough, my average score increased from 95% to 99% after a few lessons, because most of the skills translate over. I still use Rock Band to practice drums on a daily basis, and I'm thankful for the tools that Harmonix has provided me. Keep up the DLC!

My favorite RB memory is when RB3 came out I bought all new instruments. My bands mates and I celebrated by playing all the Who songs and smashing my old beat up instruments in tribute. I have pictures somewhere...

    happy birthday!

wow 4 yrs its seems like it was around so much longer in my mind but thats probs because every friday since its was released ive been playing it with my rockbandmates and it still gives me a kick! this game has brought me and the people that i play with so much closer than any game ive played ever has ,even more than bomberman, tetris, streetfigher, halo etc. rockband fridays is like a religion to us. i get excited every friday not for the weekend (i do look forward to it though) but for rockband fridays, god bless you harmonix! this game was probably more less my gate way drug into music games i did play a bit of the first 2 guitar heroes from my friend and roommate (cant remember his avatar name right now funny huh?) on ps2 they were fun but the 2 player experiance was off somehow more competitive than cooperative. rock band was announced for that year and a 4 player music game sounded fun so me and my cuz who i was living with at the time decided to go haves on the set (go big or you know the saying) but were surprised when my friend from work got the whole set before us and hes not really a gamer. well that friday instead of just getting drunk and shooting the s t we made some finnish rockers and started playing and are still going strong to this day we have all gone through some tough life changes too but still managed to keep playing. a lot of the reason for that is not only is it fun but the constant supply of dlc (thank u so much btw) that harmonix has managed to secure and release which i know aint cheep. this game has made me a music fan, before i was such a music snob sticking to genres i thought were cool, but now i appreciate all music genres an example would be 30 sec to mars i always hated jared leto still do kinda but playing some of his songs in rock band with friends who did like him made me enjoy those songs i now have good memories attached to those songs and no longer look down on other music genres. this game has made me love music again too ive been really jaded about new music since the death of kurt cobain i just couldnt enjoy new music anymore after that i just stuck to bands i knew or got hardcore into technical and negative feeling music to cope but now i can let pop music and happy feeling music into my life again (thanks again harmonix) we bought all the early dlc when we got it because we got addicted right away even though they were mostly covers (they were done well so who cared) my all time favorite band is still not represented on rock band but thanks this great community you have i still have hope one of there songs will make it on here!(its meat puppets if anyones curious) the only thing im worried about is when the next gen of consoles comes around what is the fate of rockband? i dont wanna think about it but its on my mind all that dlc just cant get ported over and we got a lot of dlc a lot thousands of songs! sorry to bring that up never mind. its hard to think of a memorable moment since there all so dear to me oh i got one i picked up my current girlfriend by asking her if she liked to come over to my place to play some rock band (did not think it would work im such a geek) which we did the 2nd week we made out after all my friends left home and three weeks later we started going steady we have been together for a year so far now , but my guilty pleasure is the poppy chick songs like pink miley and orithani lady gaga i love singing those songs they give me such a kick and im not ashamed to admit it (well under the guise of my avatar). oh thanks for introducing me to children of nova, dance gavin dance, emarosa, iwrestledabearonce and so many more i cant think of right now happy birthday!

I bought my first pretend Stratocaster
Bought it at the local Best Buy
I played it till my hands hurt bad
Two years before the fall of 2009

Me and some guys from Japan
Had a band and we tried real hard
    Tetsuya quit, Takashi got married
I should have known we'd never get far

Oh, when I look back now
That fall seemed to last forever
Playing dress-up with my pretend rock star
Those were the best days of my life.

    With apologies to Bryan Adams.

Pretty awesome. I first played with some German guys, then a couple British drummers.... yeah, can't compose a parody on the spot...
AsianSteev: if you can read this, put more Ska songs on the RBN! Please?

December 2008, after seeing commercials of RB2, I really wanted it and ended up getting it and a PS3 for christmas. I was immediately hooked, and have played almost daily ever since.
