Something Odd About Chevy Holiday Commercial

Okay, perhaps the political correctness of society today has finally integrated itself into my psyche, or this commercial is a bit too "ehhhh." The commercial I'm talking about is the Chevrolet Holiday commercial with the guy who looks like Santa Claus who ate the plate of cookies that were left out on the table in the kitchen space. He does a Santa laugh and says "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought they were left out there for me." Then other workers say "You must be busy this time of year", etc. etc.

"Santa" goes "Yeah, it's been pretty hectic this year with all the great deals and packages." They then talk about the Chevy deals this year and the actual advertising part of the commercial. They get back to the employees in the lounge and the Santa guy goes "I got to get going. Got a whole dash of white customers out there!"

I fully know this isn't an intentionally offensive thing, but man, they really shouldn't have worded it like that. I just wonder if anybody else picked up on that.

All Holiday commercials are odd to me... as well as most car commercials (the commercial where the woman is turned on by her car is a good example).

I've been trying to translate the part where I thought I heard "dasher" and thought it was a pun. After that, I couldn't understand the sentence.

The new T-Mobile commercial sounded like they were saying "walking in an orgy wonderland".

EDIT - I think he's saying "I gotta dash away; customers lining up." Just... annunciated poorly.

I agree, when I listen repeatedly I can't hear anything being said between "away" and "customers"

If they actually said "A whole dash of white customers," they're going to get in trouble. I don't think commercials or anyone should really be saying something like that. That has some really offensive racial connotations in it. But I don't think the commercial would have said that.

That makes a lot more sense, and perhaps that's what I'll hear from now on when watching the commercial. Those first few times, however, it just sounded like he was saying "white customers".

That's weird, the first time I heard it it definitely sounded like "white customers", but now, I don't hear it like that anymore. He's only saying "I gotta dash away; customers lining up."

The way he said it, it certainly can sound like "white customers".
