Why is this now the "Goldeneye Did/Didn't Contribute to Halo's Innovations Argument Thread?" I thought we were talking about the Games of the Year.

People bag on MW3, but i quite liked its campaign. WW3 scenarios are a good way to make me like your military shooter, provided it isn't terrible, like Battlefield 3's campaign.
Best single player story of the year is Arkham City, for my money, though.

arkham city 1, uncharted 2, battlefield 3.
though i have yet to put any tim into battlefield 3, i know that's where im going to rank it. i also played infamous 2 and that will be somewhere after the top 5. skyrim im sure i would like but i wouldn't rank it up near the top when its a glitch fest on release.

haha yeah im gonna dig into it this coming week. i've gone about as deep as im going to get with arkham city and uncharted 3 will wait until drow gets his copy. so it seems like the perfect time to get into battlefield.

My "Boss fight of the Year" still goes to Mr. Freeze in Arkham City, even though the set-up for the fight was completely unnecessary.

Does anyone else find it necessary to split their GotY winner into two categories, the best GotY form a technical, gameplay, story, etc. standpoint; and the most fun GotY. Just looking back, I don't think either have been the same game for me aside from 2008, but both deserve recognition.
2007:
Best GotY: Mass Effect
Funnest GotY: Rock Band
2008:
Best GotY: GTA IV
Funnest GotY: GTA IV
2009: (this one was close to being TB:RB for both)
Best GotY: Assassin's Creed 2
Funnest GotY: The Beatles: Rock Band
2010:
Best GotY: Red Dead Redemption
Funnest GotY: Rock Band 3
2011:
Best GotY: Portal 2
Funnest GotY: Skyrim
2007 is the best example. I played RB the most out of any game that year, but I can't fairly say that it was necessarily better than ME. It's hard to explain. Do you guys know what I mean?
