Hockey's never been a hugely popular sport, anyways. I'd post more often during the regular season (especially because the end of the regular season also usually means the end of my vested interest), but, well, a page of only my comments isn't much fun.

Yeah, I apologize for not being more active in this thread during the regular season. Unfortunately for me, my attention span for watching most sports (with the exception of college football) doesn't last for the entire regular season...I only start paying attention come playoffs.

No need to apologize, lol. I really don't expect people to be as impassioned about hockey as I am, though it is kinda amusing how I usually just follow scores come playoff time.

well the play offs are going well for me

Coyotes won their last game... both the Penguins and Red Wings need to lose one more game... this make me very happy

now only if the Canucks and Senators can start winning then this will be perfect for me

I was going to start posting more in here, but my team is currently down 3-1 to a team from the well known hockey town of Nashville. Sigh, at least I have the Tigers.

Nashville has a great goalie. The Wings don't.

Nashville has a mobile, physical defensive corps. The Wings have Kronwall and a bunch of has-beens and never-weres.

All the offense in the world doesn't matter when they can keep you from putting it into the net.

Yeah, I'm just used to the Wings competing for Stanley Cups. It's weird for me to see them fail this badly the last few years.

Also, It's just weird to me that Nashville is good. It just doesn't seem like a hockey place, I guess.

Problem being that the Wings have a glut of NHL-ready forwards and centers in Grand Rapids... and the only defenseman even capable of playing much at the top level is Kindl (which, if you've seen him, you know why they haven't called on him much).

That lack of depth then ends up leading to a bunch of other bad decisions from the front office, namely overpaying on the defensemen you currently have just to keep some semblance of depth ($3.25 mil for Ericsson and Quincey, $3.75 mil for Stuart, $6.2 mil for a rapidly-aging Lidstrom)... as a result you have massive cap damage for no real benefit.

I feel like age really caught up to the Red Wings roster this year, sorta like the Devils last year (granted, some of New Jersey's younger players were hurt).

Can't believe the Pens are getting hammered like they've been.
