Where in Quebec though? They already have the Canadiens, a hugely successful franchise with a long tradition and proud fanbase.

As much as it pains me to say it (seeing as I'm a fan of all things Ohio), Columbus might have to be the first to go. They're losing money and attendance every year and their roster isn't getting much better.

Quebec City would be the natural choice for another Quebec team; if they brought back the Jets, they could bring back the Nordiques. Quebec City has a greater distance between it and Montreal compared to Ottawa and Montreal, and the Sens and Habs both do well for themselves.

Speaking of the Sens, I am going to pray for another stroke of luck in making the playoffs. Anderson has had a great first couple of games, so if he has a solid season it isn't out of the question that they could have a good run.

With the Canadian dollar effectively being on par with the US dollar anymore, a team in Quebec is much more likely to have a proper go of things (when the loonie bottomed out in the 90s, it effectively tanked most any Canadian team not called the Maple Leafs).

I think the Red Wings' ridiculous playoff streak ends this year. We just look too old right now.

Too much money spent on forwards, no depth on defense, and an absolutely crushing salary cap (keep in mind, prior to the institution of the cap, teams like Detroit, Philadelphia, Toronto, and the Rangers were spending $100-120 million a year on payroll - the cap now is $60 million).

When I said Quebec, I meant Quebec City even though they never stupidly called themselves "Quebec City Nordiques". I would also like to see the return of the Hartford Whalers although that is not likely.

For the nothing it's worth, the Islanders acquired Tim Thomas.

Read that Tim Thomas trade article... ...or at least tried to without being distracted by the pedostache he was sporting in that picture of him.

In other hockey news, the attempt to keep hockey in the desert took another blow.

It sounded like there were more Hawks fans than Coyotes fans at the game last night. Then again, there wasn't much for Phoenix to cheer for through the entire game.

Sad to see that they couldn't get a deal done, but so it goes in these sports leagues. I want Hartford to get a team back...I loved that logo.
