Guys, all we're talking about is a way to tell HMX what bands we want. It's not the end of the world if someone has more points than someone else.

When I was writing my post, I knew someone was going to reply with this. And yes, I wholeheartedly agree; they are just points. It probably doesn't make it any more likely that HMX is going to choose one band over another.

But...

Seriously, HMX can see how many peeps have a band as well as how the points are assigned, so I don't see why it's an issue if some folks end up with more points, particularly if it promotes being active in picking bands.

Remember, just because Led Zeppelin is a top 10 requested band doesn't mean we'll get them, nor does a band being poorly requested mean we won't get them, but it's an additional tool for HMX to use in finding out who wants what and attempting to continue to provide DLC that sells.

THIS^ is my issue with it.

HMX can see how many points are assigned to each band, true. But, as was my case, personally I am not going to put points towards a band who already has a handful of songs in the game that I can actively go play. Does that mean I don't want more from certain bands we already have? No.

I'd love to have a greater selection from some of our current artists; G N' R, Metallica, and more songs for The Beatles game are just a few that instantly come to mind for me. And while I'd greatly like to put points towards those bands to show my support, I'm not going to. I just can't see the justification of putting the limited amount of points I've been given towards those artist while there are a great number of underrepresented and missing bands that I'd also like to see on the platform that I can put my points toward instead. And, assuming there are other people like me doing similar things, that forms an inaccurate depiction of what the fan base actually wants.

Then again, perhaps there's nobody like me and I'm the only one with skewed votes. But even if that is the case, I truly think separating the bands into "old favorites" and "hopefuls" (or something) would greatly change the numbers for a more accurate reading.

...how are Harmonix at fault for your principles of distributing points? If you want to see more Guns n Roses, they're just as valid a request as anyone else. If there are 10 bands you want even more, request those bands instead.

And it should go without saying that this isn't the sole factor in determining what songs they get, and they have months of DLC coming up that literally have nothing to do with the tool.
