HEADS UP, we've updated the OP to include a poll. Please let us know what you think of getting more points to use, how you'd like them, what you think about how we've been distributing them so far, what you'd prefer, etc. We're really taking feedback for the Dashboard to heart and a lot of people have spoken out against the current method so we want to see what people would prefer. Tell us!

I like the method you're using now. It gives people a reason to spread out their points.

Problem with awarding points when bands are picked off your list is that you might have people start giving points to bands that they think are more likely to be added, instead of bands they really want.

Keeping the points at 10 ensures that you get a true reflection of each user's most wanted songs. Diluting this number with more points would be counterproductive, IMHO.

While I kinda like the idea of basically betting your points in hopes of getting more when your pick of an artist is released, I don't think it's too fair for those that put all of their points into a more obscure artist that is much less likely to be picked. So frankly, I don't know what would be best. Maybe a hybrid of points to those who get their picks chosen, and points to everyone for special occasions?

Then again, since I don't use facebook, I don't know how the app really works. Can you reassign your points if you change your mind/you get what you wanted? Cause if that is the case, you should probably just stick to 10 points.

Right, they said during the Livestream that once they looked at data for the Facebook app that they made some changes to their DLC schedule (moving up the release for some of the higher requested bands)

Obviously it won't help getting music from Pink Floyd/Metallica/any other big bands with big licensing issues but it might help other bands that Harmonix has licensed content for move up in the pipeline.

I would like to see them combine some of the bands votes to get a real number. Perfect examples are Huey Lewis + Huey Lewis & The News or George Thorogood + George Thorogood & The Destroyers. Id much rather see their votes combined for a realistic number than splitting the votes.

As for adding points, I'd love to see a way where points could be added depending on our actual profiles...with points added to the votes depending what songs are purchased and played by the user. It makes much more sense to reward active users than a band that says "hey everybody, go here and vote all your points to us even though you don't play the game." or people who request a band and then their fanbase posts "man...when I get some money...." Finding a way to reward the fans that are active and are helping promote HMX's business is (I'm sure) MUCH harder than that...

    __ Twisted Sister

    I agree with this wholeheartedly.

I voted for "more points on holidays" because I want more points, but not too many more. :P

I honestly don't like the current system of rewarding points. I think once in a while everyone should be given points.

Keep giving points to people whose requests get fullfilled, and start giving points on holidays. Would keep a nice balance, I think.

Giving points to some whose request got fullfilled is a pretty bad idea imo. I would turn it around, by giving some points (maybe 1 or 2) to people whose request don't get fullfilled and those who got what they wanted should lose the points they used to request that band.
