That a total of 46 points per person.

55 actually, but that's just nitpicking.

Well I didn't know they didn't give them out for every artist, how does it even work then? And it's not quite the same thing, there's a difference between blabbering to everyone which DLC is coming early and subtly racking up points on the dashboard to get their favourite bands a little more noticed without pissing anyone off. But I guess you're right, the mods do seem like a bunch of morally straight fellows, what with their ban hammers of doom and all

I don't understand why anyone gets more than 10 total votes to choose 10 different bands. Would that not better reflect the popularity of a band? Would it not be more useful to know that a band with 100 points/votes got them from 100 unique users rather than 10 people that put all 10 points/votes onto that one band?

If they want to reward a person who gets one from their list, then give them one more band vote. I pick 10 bands and one gets released? I get one extra vote to pick 11 bands. Bonus to me, and it doesn't really inflate the numbers much. It seems foolish to allow a band with a fringe, but hardcore, following to artificially reach a higher ranking. If HMX releases Nightwish because it's in the top ten, then it performs poorly with sales because only a small number of dedicated voters pushed them to the top 10 - how does that help HMX? (Nothing against Nightwish - just pointing out their placement is one of those that seems out of the ordinary.)

I think this whole voting game is nothing more than a social media advertising plan anyway. If so, I don't see why it can't be made more useful by also getting more valuable data. Maybe there's more to it that I don't understand. I work in sales. Marketing plans often mystify me.

Harmonix can see both unique users and total points. That's why.

Just a thought, if you're going to continue to offer reward points, why offer 5? Just offer 1 bonus point. It's enough to make it interesting, while not enough to sway the votes or make chasing extra votes that big of a deal.

I'm sure that's the case but it still confuses me. Encouraging people to "vote early, vote often" in the /request feature also confuses me. Both seem to just muddy the waters. I suppose the idea is to provide people a reason to visit the site every day. I think people might use the Facebook app more often if they had a reason not to just toss all of their points on their favorite band and forget about it, except to check positioning. Different people will play the voting game in different ways I guess. No way around it unless you make the rules more restrictive.

I won't lose sleep over it. Ultimately it's just one small part of the DLC creation process. I personally can't take the poll seriously at all under this system. Luckily there's no need to take it seriously. It's just optional DLC. Odds are likely that, judging from recent DLC history, I'll find something to enjoy 3 out of every 4 weeks anyway.

Hey guys! We made a small update to the Dashboard app today. There are now navigation boxes at the top of the app, but the real magic is behind the scenes. We made the app faster and built some functionality to prep for future feature implementations. Because you here on the forums are so awesome, we'd love your help testing this new version of the app. It's simple to do. All we ask is that you visit the app and browse around. If you have any problems registering or logging in, post here in the thread with your browser type. And of course, feel free to give us any other feedback you have about the app! Thank you!

Due to my old browser, I still can't click on anything that isn't a pure text redirect(like Your Dashboard, Home, any given song title) or the big ol' logo in the corner. Because of this, I can't filter my leaderboards by instrument. I understand it's not an app issue, per se, but is there any way to make these into a clickable format for those of us with PoS computers?

Same ancient one like Firefox 3. And no, JavaScript is enabled.
