    Sigh. You are so young. You see, in the 90s there was a very popular TV show called Seinfeld. In it one of the characters, George, had a father who was crazy. His crazy father came up with a holiday to be celebrated the day before Christmas Eve. The holiday was call Festivus and included traditions such as The Feats of Strength and The Airing of Grievences. For more info please refer to Wikipedia.

    It got propagated into Christmas. You could always say "Happy Winter Solstice" though
