Guitar Hero/Rock Band introduce me to virtually everything.
So all of them have completely obscure music. Relatively speaking to me, of course.
Even Paramore! I've never heard of Paramore until I played Guitar Hero World Tour.

I don't really like Paramore... anyway, the only "new" music I ever hear in rock band or GH is the HMX bands... which by the way was my fave part of Rock Band... and what makes RB3 not having any even worse is the fact that I didn't like even 25% of the songs on the disc

Some of those bands would definitely be considered obscurish. Not saying a high number, but there are a few.

Then there are quite a bit of "small" bands that not a lot of people would know by name but may know a song or two.

Where do you think 95% of people hear music? Radio and(used to be) tv. Not everyone just goes out and buys obscure band x cd.

Edit:
I wanted to amend this post to say that the internet has more or less replaced tv as a music finding source, but it's still the stuff you hear on the radio being passed around the most.

I do too! I just hear it from Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
