I can't stop listening to iamamiwhoami's debut. I've also been really loving Niki & The Dove.

Really, I've really liked quite a few of the albums I've listened to in the past few days and I'll need to re-listen to them some more to see if I end up liking them as much in the long run. That said, Santigold's latest was a little boring (even though that's my favorite song off of it) and Phantom Antichrist is the catchiest metal song I've heard in a minute.

Paracletus is by far one of my favorite metal albums of all time.


Anyways, was very surprised by the new Gojira record.
Weird record for me. Before any song was released, it was my most anticipated record of the year.
Then the title track came out, and, while it wasn't as amazing as I was expecting, it was pretty good.

Then Liquid Fire came out and... it just was pretty weak for a Gojira song (not a bad song. Pretty decent song. Just a "bad" Gojira song. When you're Gojira and you have to live up to albums like From Mars and Flesh, even a decent song is a terrible Gojira song).
So I was a little worried that they'd gone down a more generic metalcore route with the album.

Thankfully, the majority of the album (with pretty much the sole exception of Liquid Fire) was pretty damn good. Not as good as The Way of All Flesh or From Mars to Sirius, but pretty good. Maybe on par with The Link.

Best album for me on the year so far I guess, but it's not as invincible as I thought it'd be. Right now waiting for the new Nachtmystium. Really liking the how the band is really pulling back from the style from the Black Meddle albums, especially Addicts. I loved Assassins but compared, Addicts is pretty "meh". Not a bad album by any means, but it goes WAY too far with the psychedelic and dance influences to the point of coming off as cheesy on some songs (for the record, IMO, Instinct: Decay is still their best release).

One of the new Herman Frank songs "Ivory Gate" is outstanding, I loved Loyal to None, so I'm going to jump right on Right in the Guts.

ULS_980: Oddly enough, Liquid Fire was probably by favorite track off of L'enfant Sauvage. Overall, though, was a fairly good album, although pretty weak by Gojira standards (might be my least favorite full album of theirs).
