I know I'm super late to this thread and I haven't really listened to a lot of 2012 music, but Japandroids' new album blew me away...until I heard the Cloud Nothings new album and I changed my mind. Also dug Serj Tankian's new album and Xiu Xiu's were also pretty good. Fun's new album was ok, didn't touch their debut though. After browsing through this thread ima get Death Grips new album as well.

Still haven't listened to Serj Tankian's new album yet. Probably should get around to that.

Yes, it's fantastic. I'd say it's easily their best album.

In regards to its musical style, it's essentially Elect The Dead part 2. Not a big fan of Serj's solo stuff, but it's an okay listen I guess.

Yeah... it's currently listed as the #1 album of the year on ProgArchives by a comfortable bit, but they also have the new albums from The Flower Kings and Echolyn in the top five, so I'm not exactly sold on the reliability of the site's users. (I think the album is fantastic, but I'm not going to outsource my opinion to PA.)
