Picked up Port of Morrow (only 12.99 for a brand new CD, not bad) yesterday, already love it, especially the first half. I also got 50 Words For Snow by Kate Bush for 10 bucks. Never heard anything by her before, but the packaging was really cool, and I've heard good stuff about her. Upon a sorta casual, half sleepy first listen I like it a lot, it's like winter in song form.

It was released a few months ago and I've only just got around to listening to it, but TRST by Trust is shaping up to be one of my favourites of the year so far. It's like a gothy synth-pop/darkwave with quite nasally, unique vocals.

    I dig it.

I take back what I said earlier about God Forbid, it's just the single that has the heavy djent influence, I'm listening to the album now. There's some djent influence sprinkled throughout, mostly in the breakdowns, but on the contrary, this new album is their most melodic album to date with clean vocals on almost every song, a lot more melodic instrumentation and chorus's, and clean guitars which God Forbid hardly ever used before. Just waiting for all the fans to call them sellouts. They're just as heavy as they ever been, but this album really showcases their melodic side that has always been there. Jersey represent!! Can't wait until they come to Starland Ballroom, definitely seeing these guys.

you're welcome. i've been plugging this group for a while now, ever since i saw them open for Zola Jesus a couple years back. I was actually at the release party for TRST.

I think the album's barely been out a month now, but it did leak about 3 weeks early.

Just got my copy of the new Ancestors album for helping fund their European tour on Kickstarter...

...this has album of the year potential, not to mention one hell of a way to close out an album. ~20-minute epics are a dangerous gamble, but when they work... Motorpsycho's "Gullible's Travails" (off of Heavy Metal Fruit), The Tangent's "Titanic Calls Carpathia" (off of COMM), and Dream Theater's "Octavarium" (off of the same album) come to mind - all songs that raise the overall level of the album several notches (and, in the case of the latter, single-handedly save an otherwise sub-par album).

Been digging Porcelain Raft's Strange Weekend and Field Music's latest, Plumb. Plumb has a really great early prog tone to it, akin to Genesis or Ambrosia's first album. Good stuff.
