I've been slacking a bit this year so far as well even though I said I wasn't going to do that, but I do have a bunch of albums lined up. Just need to get to them.

Anyway, the 1 album I've heard from this year was Black Breath's newest, which I found to be quite good. It's similar to their last one if you've heard it, but definitely worth listening to even if you haven't heard any of their previous material.

Just picked up Flying Colors and Thick As A Brick 2. I've been waiting for a while, and I'm super excited for these. They sound great so far.
We need sludgey and droney and stonery metal:
    Dirge
    Sleep
    Bongripper
    Sunn O)))
    Electric Wizard
    Earth
    Neurosis
    Cult of Luna

Digging the hell out of Christian Mistress. A doom meta band fronted by a woman that has an old school vibe makes for a sweet combination.

Death Grips is definitely my AOTY so far, it's miles above their release last year. These are some of the best beats I've ever heard. I didn't think they could blow my mind again like this after Exmilitary.

Track for track, I think The Money Store is more consistent, but it doesn't reach the heights of the best moments on Exmilitary; only on 'Hacker', possibly. It's my AOTY so far too, but I prefer the rawness of Exmilitary.. I read an interview where one of the members said they're next release (which is coming out this year also) is more aggressive than anything they've released so far, so I've got high hopes for it.

What do you think of Zach Hill's drumming?

Not sure what my AOTY at the moment is - there's a few albums that are all pretty close at this point. If you pointed a gun to my head and forced me to choose one, at the moment I'd say In Somniphobia.

I love it. I think there's a lot more live tracking on this album because it sounds a lot more like him.

MY AOTY so far is either the new Ice Dragon (Tome of the Future Ancients) or the new Deathhammer.
