No offense to Tears for Fears, but now that I've heard Shout as covered by neo-medieval folk band The Soil Bleeds Black, I see very little reason to go back to the original. But then, I am very strange.

    Topical! Kind of.

It's an excellent song, and there's many different directions to take it. TFF themselves have taken it many different directions (Wikipedia says they've released 16 different remixes of it themselves). Heck, I even like Disturbed's cover.

Just gave the linked video a listen. Sounds pretty faithful to the original version, just with female lead vocals and a woodwind instrument of some kind in place of the synth.

I must be strange also, since I like this version over the original.

I really like some of Celine Dion's covers better than the originals ("Alone", especially). Sue me.

Plus, I'm not sure if I'd say it's better than the Platinum Blonde original, but the Crystal Castles/Robert Smith version of "Not In Love" hits a special mood that the first recording doesn't.

When I hear "Celine Dion" and "Covers" in the same sentence, my mind jumps to this haunting flashback. Afterwards, I feel dirty and need a shower as well as some brain bleach.
