Since there isn't a 2013 version of this yet, and I am far too lazy to make one, I'll just put this here, I guess.

I saw Coheed and Cambria with Between the Buried and Me and Russian Circles on Friday in Detroit, and It was a mixed bag I guess.

Russian Circles came out first, and they were absolutely stunning. I had never heard of them prior to the show, and to say I was pleasantly surprised would be a drastic understatement. I'm definitely going to dive into their discography now.

Here's a sample of their show.

BtBaM was next, and to be blunt, they were terrible. Terrible live, and a terrible fit for the bill. I really don't want to go too much farther into it, because it makes me re-live their terrible set in my brain.

Coheed came out next, and the crowd could not have been much more energetic. This is my 13th time seeing these dudes live, and this is the best show I've seen from them. Josh Eppard absolutely brought it, and Claudio's voice was in incredible shape. The crowd was about 50% of the show was so amazing. I swear these guys get better every time i see them, somehow.

    Highlights:

In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3 (the crowd was insane during this song)
Key Entity Extraction III: Vic the Butcher
    The Afterman
Key Entity Extraction V: Sentry the Defiant

I'd give both Coheed and Russian Circles solid A's, but BtBaM a D-. The fact that the Fillmore is one of my favorite venues only made it better. I'll go B+ overall.

Well, in 2012 I went and saw Trans-Siberian Orchestra in April, then in September I went to a freakin' awesome show that consisted of Cory Lamb, Willet, Bread of Stone, Icon for Hire, Disciple, and Family Force 5. It was awesome.
    New Nightlock album!
