Single Most Requested Song in Rock Band History?

Disappointingly, I'm sure this whole thing is to troll us and it WILL be Rick Astley.

Not to say I wouldn't buy it, because I would. But the most requested song of all time probably is something like Stairway to Heaven, Hey Jude, Sweet Child O' Mine, Another Brick in the Wall, or something along those lines. And I don't think they've suddenly gone out and acquired (or reacquired the Beatles) those bands.

No, it's definitely the most requested song that they will be giving us. Never Gonna Give You Up actually probably has been requested a lot when you think about it.

I'm trying to think of what could be #1 for 3+ years...

I mean Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Prince, Muse, Metallica, Aerosmith, Guns N Roses...has to be one of those right?

You can probably strike out Zep and Floyd right away.

Prince is most likely not it as well, as he has issues with the whole games thing.

Metallica is most likely still under Activision...so that would knock it down to Muse, Aerosmith (the 5 year thing will be up this year if the 5 year exclusive is true), and GnR.

Now having said all that it's probably a pop song like Thriller or Beat it or a Madonna/britney spears type song.

Pop songs seem to be the strongest sellers, and remember what we want most isn't indicative of what the general public wants.

So the x factor is this : Is this just from the forums most wanted (which then it most likely would be something from one of the artists I listed at first seeing as how we here would vote for songs from said bands. Or is it an overall general most wanted. Meaning the million or so players out there that don't visit the forums and buy the Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, and what not have a hand in the vote?

I think TAG is right, in that ultimately the song will probably be a pop tune; most likely a very famous song by a band considered a one-hit wonder in many corners of the world. Hopefully it'll be something like "Careless Whisper" or "Barbie Girl" rather than "Never Gonna Give You Up," though...that meme had run it's course about the time the request form was put up.

This is the reason why I don't think we'll be getting Rick Astley. I understand the songs popularity as an ongoing meme, but I know the forum-goers here have other bands that they have been waiting a few years for.
