I'm also looking for a drum set. Mad Catz doesn't have any available at the moment, but hopefully when RB4 is released they'll be easier to find.
So long, farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, good night.

I felt like I was being reckless and extravagant when I ordered my RB3 Pro Drums from MadCatz last year. Turns out it was a lucky move on my part. When it wears out, eventually, I'll look into getting a MIDI drum set of some sort. Anyone not willing to pay the secondary market price for an official drum set, or to splurge on a real life MIDI drum set is not being "cheap" ... that's a lot of money to throw down just to play a game, fun as the game may be. But those are the only realistic options, for Pro Drums, right at this moment. You can pony up the money, or wait it out, or play some other, similar rhythm games with the more readily-avaiable hardware out there. No one will judge you whichever direction you choose to go.

Yeah, hopefully we'll look back at this situation a year from now and laugh with relief and joy and how much the supplies of pro drums have improved. Hey, you never know. Though it does seem clear that the only Pro Guitar we'll get in the forseeable future is the Mustang. I guess we already knew that a while ago.

Thanks for the response hmxhenry. I apologize for letting my enthusiasm get the better of me and coming across crass -- I guess I'm just really excited to try and check out pro mode on drums, and the drum kit I have just broke down, and so that probably added to the frustration. I appreciate what you guys are doing, that you are working on it -- that's what matters to me. As long as I know y'all are doing your best to work this thing out, I feel like a valued, cared for customer. And in the long run, that's what'll keep me coming back.

I'd like to put on my "big boy pants" and apologize for the fuel I added to this fire. Some topics, this one included, have been discussed so often that it is easy to lose patience with those who start it up again.

I wonder if any of the brick-and-mortar retailers have any old stock still lying around. Fry's used to be my best bet, but even they have been dry in recent months. Best Buy has a handful of random stuff, mostly for the Wii, but nothing physically bigger than the keyboard. The "Looking for Rock Band 3 Hardware?" thread has turned into comments and suggestions on where to look for stuff, but perhaps some of us can offer to buy on the behalf of other forum members when we do see something available, particularly the drum kits. Shipping won't be cheap, but at this point it could still be worth it compared to the online price gougers.

    I'll keep my eyes peeled.
It's all right. Everything will work out fine.
It's all right. We're going to the end of the line!

Correction!! The You Rock Guitar (YRG-1000) works pretty well and is a nice compromise between the Mustang and the Squire.

I actually had my hands on one of the Squire strats and I wasn't that crazy about it because it didn't seem built to last. That's not to say that the YRG is a tank or anything, but it does the job for about half the price (at least that's what I paid).

It does seem like either amateur hour or just bad business to let this shortage problem continue. They [MadCatz/HMX] are and have been aware of the complaints for quite some time now. They hear of the price gouging that goes on. They know their is at least some demand built up. If people are willing to pay 2x or 3x the price for a product, the manufacturer should jump at the chance to sell more of the product they created. Instead of letting other businesses [that hoarded and contributed to the shortage] make an [undeserved] profit off their creation. It just seems like business 101...

MadCatz made a million drumsets so there should be plenty available.

But 999k are in the landfill.

    Exaggeration but might be true.

I know a handful of people with Rock Band equipment (including drums) that they will probably never use again. I think about encouraging them to sell it, except:

    1) then I'll lose all hope of ever getting to play Rock Band with them, and that would be disappointing.
    2) they might be original RB drum sets (no extra plug for a 2nd bass pedal / pro cymbals).

Do the original RB drum pedals have any resale value?

My local used store sells RB1 drums for $25.

There's oodles of those. Every blue moon they get a RB2 set in. Those sell for $45.

I've tried to contact local pawn shops, to no avail. I've heard so many people with success stories on here mentioning a used store like that, I figured that'd be the place to get them. But not around here...

Craigslist is good, if people actually respond. But that can be hit or miss, too. Just depends.

Someone mentioned something about March and Madcatz having some kind of announcement or something to do with hardware -- don't remember which thread, but I'm hoping that is referring to new stock.
