If you're not using RB2/RB3 drums, what drums are they?

I was thinking about getting this one:
http://www.ionaudio.com/products/det...core-wii-model
It says it supports RB3 with 3 cymbals and a 2nd Bass pedal (i assume either for double kick or optionally for use with the hi-hat). It also says it DOES differentiate between cymbals and drums when you strike the cymbals (depending if the game checks for that).
Those are all true, but that still doesn't explain why your cymbals don't work. There's really no reason why they shouldn't have, provided you selected Pro Drums and checked all of the cymbals in Drum Options.
Oh, and IONs will get expensive, because you'll need cymbals and mounts, and you'll want to replace the bass pedal, then you'll probably want to get more than 3 cymbals, then replace the drums, then get a MIDI drum brain, and then...

They were simply labeled "afermarket"... I believe they were VERY generic, hence the compatibility issue with my MadCatz cymbals...
My MadCatz cymbals should work with the Ion drums shouldn't they? And I do have 3 kick pedals already, why would I want to replace the metal one from Ion? And why a MIDI brain? It's not like I plan to go pro IRL, I just wanna play Pro drums in the game....
No, the Madcatz cymbals won't work with the IONs.
The bass pedal that comes with the IONs suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.
It's called "Gear Acquisition Syndrome".

Seriously??!
OMG, these companies need to get their heads out of their asses and makes some gear that plays nice together!! What is this, the stone age? Didn't they learn their lesson with <insert any given hardware/software company here>???? Seriously! "Those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it." This is just sad... I can't find a drum set ANYWHERE that works with my cymbal expansion so I guess I just blew that money for NOTHING...![]()
Indeed, RockBand3 hardware availability was basically in a sorry state right from launch, and has gone mostly downhill from there.
You can probably still find the drums if you look hard enough, but it make take some effort and/or require online ordering from a third party.
I wouldn't say your money was *totally* wasted however. You may eventually get your hands on some compatible drums, and even if not, I think using the cymbals is preferable to drums-only even in NON-pro mode. YMMV.

Your indignation is misguided. The difference between RB drum kits and a real electronic drum kit is like the difference between a go-kart and an Formula1 car (and just look at the price points if you don't believe me: RB3 kit - $130; Alesis DM6 USB; which is basically the ION drums with a few more bits $600). You're getting mad that the fuel pump you bought for the kart won't work in the F1.
