That way people wouldn't just look at it and think "oh, a new Rock Band game, that takes up way too much space" to "look, a karaoke game, that'd be hilarious to play at my next get together".

I just think it could be an option to give HMX a little more revenue. It would probably have to be all classic rock and pop, but I think it could be really cool.
Now that would be really cool to see. Seeing my 2 main instruments are Vocals and Guitar/Bass

"Not enough people buying your game? Have you tried releasing the same game, just with 1/5th of the playable content? Wouldn't that work?"

    No. No, it would not.

What if there were no instruments at all and we just watched the excellent animations during video shoots of songs recorded off of rb3?

That would sell like hotcakes right?

Only if every 'song' was just a HundredDollarHeadache narration of whichever music video venue was forcibly chosen.

I think we need a DESCENT karaoke game too.
And Harmomix is the master doing it. A karaoke game based on Rock Band engine would be awesome.
Lips and Karaoke Revolution are humilated compared just to "Vocals" feature on Rock Band. The voice recognition, system of scoring, harmonies, pitch corrector, etc.
HMX has everything to beat them with the best game ever. Besides, its just speculation.
But if its for dreaming, please let it be ROCK BAND 4!
    Expert Vocals (plus accent)

For major interest, I think the trailer would need to open with an A7X song as they're one the most popular bands at the moment.
    Wishlist (possible artists):
    [4] The Killers
    [1] The Cure
    [7] AFI
    [3] Sum 41
    [11] Linkin Park
    [51] Green Day
    [9] The Offspring

If you're not watching it in the first few seconds that they would place the song, then you probably wouldn't even be there to watch it. What, you think their panel audience will stick their fingers in their ears and go, "LALALALALALALA," during a potential trailer if the right song doesn't open it?

Whatever song you choose, there will be people who will do that. Imagine if RB3 trailer was opened with Rehab.
