Ha ha! I called this like a mofo. Sweet.
I'm gonna find out how to use my ridiculous drums to play this anyway, sustained notes be damned!

Again, I never applied anything to your posts. I said the music in Audiosurf was priced and so was the game. You said you already owned CDs. For the third time, that doesn't make them free. Myself and others tried spelling this out for you last night, and I assumed your wandering off was you finally grasping that I never so much as mentioned Rock Band: Blitz(which you continued to cite) and never really said much of anything about what you were emphatically 'insisting', but I see now that that's not the case.
This is my original post that you got after because 'Rock Band makes you buy songs!':
Yup. Look at that. The only thing I said was that Audiosurf has a pricetag and that music is supposed to be legally bought.
Sidenote:
Naaaaailed it.

He said RB makes you buy your songs AGAIN.
Want
Radiohead (more)
Savatage
King Crimson
Nelly Furtado
Bob Dylan (more)
Yeah I don't understand why anyone would imagine that this game works like audiosurf. I'm glad that they mentioned the "algorithm" in interviews, but it immediately seemed obvious to me that they were making use of the existing charting data. Why wouldn't they?
☐ Alexisonfire ☐ Billy Talent ☐ Cake ☐ Cream ☐ ELO ☑ Heart ☐ Kinks
☐ Neil Young ☐ OLP ☐ Sex Pistols ☑ Sublime ☐ Supertramp ☐ ZZ Top

What I said was and has been that if you want new fresh content in RBB then you're going to have to pay upwards of $1 to have it.
Whereas with audiosurf (please pay attention to this next part because it appears to be too subtle for some to grasp) you can load any audio you have on your HD into the game. You do this with no additional costs to you and the added bonus of not having to deal with licensing or such.
That was the original assertion from the start and I've never deviated from it. GNF has gone on to say that based on my posts I've suggested that you needn't pay for the music to start with (aka purchase a CD or download an mp3 file). This is of course missing the point by a thousand miles and spurred on several posts (perhaps 20) to get things back on track.
The point is, in a nutshell.
New song into RBB = Buy DLC
New song into audio surf = load it from your HD for nothing
From here I had to explain that even if you bought a CD or downloaded an iTune that if you want to play that song as a chart in any HMX game you'd still have to buy it in the form of DLC all over again.
Not the case with audio surf.
If you are a fan of a band it's not outrageous to say that you would own the music of that band in some form that would rip to your HD. Again, I had to explain the nuance of this concept repeatedly (and by all accounts this still hasn't sunk in) that if you own a song in any format that it won't preclude you from having to pay for the DLC to get that song into an HMX game.
Now, if you can grasp all of the above you will see the original point that I made and why I even posted in this thread to begin with. That point being:
If a non RB consumer is going to choose a game like Blitz over Audio Surf then the game play had better be -very- compelling because the same itch can be scratched for FREE (essentially see all my disclaimers in this thread) and with any artist that the consumer likes without delay in a game like audio surf.
I've had to defend that salient point over and over again against GNF deflecting such silliness as "CD's and iTunes aren't free" and "audio surf isn't free" etc.
It's been an arduous debate over trivialities that don't effect my point in the least. Let's hope you are not traveling the same path as GNF with this post of yours, catch-22.
EDIT:
I should also point out that I do tend to sleep about once a day. I did that last night and this was construed by GNF as...I'm guessing "running away from a losing argument" (I paraphrased from his last post, forgive me).
Far from it, I'm rather tenacious even in the face of this sort of silliness. I didn't spend 8 years on the political crossfire forums without getting a tough skin.

AGAIN, you're saying something I can replace two words of and it will apply in reverse. Which I will.
New song into Audiosurf = Buy a song
New song into RBB = load it from your HD for nothing
You're comparing apples to oranges(AGAIN). Of COURSE you don't have to pay to load from a storage device full of paid content. BOTH series do that. I don't have to rebuy all my Rock Band DLC every time I turn on the game. If you want songs in a format for RBB/Audiosurf, you have to purchase them in said format, and YES, that STILL includes CDs, because those have MP3 files on them.
If you have a song the other series can't read, YOU HAVE TO BUY IT IN A FORMAT IT CAN. It is not an exclusive trait to one side. If I have a song on Rock Band and nowhere else, I can't 'load it into Audiosurf from my collection' like you're so hellbent on insisting is something unique. I have to buy it in a way where I can get it to Audiosurf. What part of this aren't you grasping?

If there's a demo, I'll play it. Maybe the game play will change my mind. From what I've seen and heard though, this'll probably be the first Rock Band title I pass on.
Opeth (x), Nevermore (x), Dillinger Escape Plan (x), Katatonia, The Ocean, Devin Townsend (x), MSI, Bloodbath, Slayer (x)
