No doubt it would be done via the same process that they create exports for each of the older games as the newest games are introduced, which I imagine to be negotiations with every one of the rights holders of the songs on the RB3 disc after which they'd have not gotten agreements for the export of some of the them. We would then be asked to pay $10 (or more) for the export. My guess is that nearly everybody who played RB1 who bought RB2 bought the RB1 export and that nearly everyone who played RB2 who bought RB3 bought the RB2 export. What percentage of RB3 players will buy Blitz? Of that subset, what percentage would pay for an RB3 export? Would it be enough to be worth the time and effort?

You'll be able to play all of RB songs that you've purchased other than RB3 and TBRB--at this point, for me, that's over 500 pieces and by common standards I don't have much. It seems more than adequate fodder for an arcade game.

I wonder if the 3000 song limit will be included in this game.

Big interview posted in yesterday's The Hollywood Reporter. What piqued my interest most:

THR: Ubisoft has its Rocksmith game out there, but do you think there's still an audience and appetite for the more traditional experiences Harmonix introduced first with Guitar Hero and then with Rock Band?

Nordhaus: Absolutely. We have a large, vibrant community that still plays Rock Band 3 on an ongoing basis. Our forums are chock full of people talking about the game, speculating about upcoming week’s DLC, arguing back and forth about the best songs, and finding people to play multiplayer with. At PAX this weekend we talked with many people about how they still loved Rock Band, and played Rock Band each week with their families and friends. The Rock Band stages at PAX were jammed with people, standing in line all day long for a chance to play. People love the game, the cooperative and performance aspect of it, and none of that is going away anytime soon.

At the same time, we see Rock Band Blitz as playing alongside Rock Band 3, not trying to replace it.Rock Band Blitz is more focused on competition and arcade game fun, and we are not trying to replace music performance aspect of Rock Band 3, just give people a complementary experience.
I guess we can come back in off the ledge now. If there was any doubt about how popular core "plastic instruments" RB play is, PAX East was a reminder to the HMX how much it is still loved. They obviously already know this, since they scrape data for everything in terms of gameplay/usage patterns, but it is definitely nice to hear out of an HMX dev's mouth.

Well, I don't know if I'd take it THAT far. PAX is a specialized audience of hardcore gamers. You can't take data from PAX attendance (and playing habits there) and apply it to the general populace of the rest of the world.

Was that from, "Colors Ending in 'Urple?"
It's spelled "Squier." Stop spelling it like someone who is in training to be a knight.
