"brand new title" to me means that it's NOT a new iteration.

If that was how devs thinking worked we would have like 7 "brand new titles" in 2012 by the whole game industry combined.

My personal forum speculation machine leads me to believe that it's either a new Rock Band game or something else.

That's what I would have thought, but they're saying fans of Rock Band specifically should be interested. Someone mentioned how the official twitter for Rock Band posted about this happening but pointed out that the Harmonix one did not. It may not be a new Rock Band sequel, but it's definitely Rock Band related, an idea that jives with what Harmonix has said before about how they plan to take the Rock Band IP in a new direction. If they're going to put out something new by the end of the year, it would make sense that we'd start hearing about it before too long.

My hope is just that the core playing will remain and that there will be better hardware support for it; wider support for different guitars in pro mode, charting for hi-hat pedal, charting double bass drum where appropriate, more control for different effect pedals in keys especially when used with the midi adapter (how about just put jacks for pedals right in the midi adapter so that pro guitar can use them too). Anything else would just be butter.

I want them to reveal the 3DS and Vita titles they're working on. Whatever they are, I just want new rhythm games for my handhelds.

Whatever the title is...if it's using the legacy RB library, I hope it supports more than 3000 songs.

I would say a new game to replace Rock Band, but barely recognizable as Rock Band as we know it today.

I love having Rock Band post my Top 5 Performances every week at 8:50am ET. Do any of my other Facebook friends use this feature? Nope. Have any people blocked my feed / dropped me as a friend because I spam them with this announcement every week? I sure hope not, but it's possible. I was very happy the day I learned I could block all messages from a specific app (like Farmville) without losing all of the other awesome updates from my friends (like the most recent one: "Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!").

We also already have the Rock Band Dashboard, and I'm pretty sure none of my friends use that either. In any case, I don't think a new Facebook app would qualify as "a new title". If the radical new direction turns out to be something that small in scope, I'll just keep playing RB3 and buying new DLC.
