All the tracks play at regular volume. If you play well, the track you are playing is louder than the others. If you miss notes the volume of that track drops way down, and we play miss noises.

We also have an option to allow people to set how much louder the active track is, relative to the others, from "None" to "Lots." We found that people had very specific opinions about what the optimal setting was, and they tended to disagree with each other.

From what I've seen in videos, switching tracks seems to almost force a dip in volume until you pick up that track. Shouldn't there be some delay where the track plays 'properly' for X seconds once you switch to it no matter your quality?

When you say regular volume, do you mean non-normalised volume ala RB? Or can we look forward to having some kind of level between songs now?

Asking cos I'm curious, and hate having to adjust the amp.

That's a good point. The new track you pick should get louder (because it's your current selected track), but unless you hit the very first note correctly, it could get softer immediately (because you're doing it wrong). It'll be interesting to see how this plays out in the final version. I agree that some sort of grace period (even a very brief one) makes a lot of sense, especially since it sounds like blowing a note streak in Blitz isn't nearly the scoring disaster it is in standard Rock Band.

PS2 didn't have DLC, so no

Xbox I believe did, though again, wasn't a huge sample size, as the Xbox didn't have a lot of adopters till the 360.

It's account based, so if things work, then they will. For example, PSP to PSVita DLC works just fine if the game is supported (and it appears most are).

Xbox mostly had Halo, and Halo maps definitely moved up.

Hm, interesting. As subtle as it might be, having the actual tracks vary in volume like this or some effect where you somehow feel like you're in control of the track makes a huge difference to me. That's good. Otherwise, it feels like listening to music in the background. Don't wanna waste those master tracks!

I'd just hate to see one article dash all of your excitement about a game that many, many others have played and enjoyed.
Thanks for the replies (Magnet and HMX). Perhaps I got confused on how it worked when reading that article (was multitasking at the time). My apologies if that resulted in misinformation. Just was concerned that you guys kept some feeling of interactivity with the track intact. I would miss that in a music game. Sounds like that's not the case. It's a day 1 purchase regardless for the tracks, and once I have the game, I'll at least be playing though on all my favorite songs to see just how much I'd be going back to it.

Rock Band Blitz is such a smart product. That's just how I see it. It's smart.
Continue putting out DLC that you play in the base game AND that you can play in a acradier version that harkens back to the old days yet is an entirely new product on it's own.

Harmonix (you guys ) is smart enough to innovate and bring freshness into all their products. People who wanted a new frequency game now has RBB. People who wanted a new RB game has RBB. People who don't have peripherals now have RBB.

Like I said such a smart product. I cant wait. : ) THX for everything Harmonix guys!
