Can you see other players characters online?

On RB3 for the Wii, can you see the other players characters when playing online? All I see is an annoying firework background, I can't even make out the notes with all that flashing. Is there a way to play on stage where you can see characters instead of all that visual noise?

I see other player's avatars only at the top-level menu
(waiting, or "finding players") and sometimes in the cut-scene
before a setlist. They might be there during a tune, but I'm too
focused trying to locate my notes against the whanging
    screensaver background to notice.

And...my belief is that your custom tattoos are not
visible to other players, but I have no way to confirm that...
(otherwise, I think I would've had a comment or two about
    my avatar's tattoos.).

Unfortunately, Harmonix dislikes Wii users and cut out alot of the graphics and details for the Wii version as apposed to the Xbox and Ps3 versions, even though the Wii could support the game without these changes. One of the big edits made on the Wii is the removal of player's characters online or whenever theyre in the 'studio' (what the game calls the place with crazy backgrounds ((also, online, you are always in the studio))) Even if you're playing with friends, its always in the studio, so you can never see each other's characters interact. I don't know why they decided to do this on the Wii.
I only play Expert Pro-Drums these days.

No, it can't. I mean, super good job telling the company that developed the game for the console everything you know from your time NOT developing for the console, but really.

It was stated by the Wii devolpers a month after RB3 came out that character's were taken out of the online and music video venues in order to keep the game running at a near constant 60 FPS.
