Thread: Science Fiction

Three great SF classic movies are "The Day the Earth Stood Still", "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and "Forbidden Planet". Make sure you catch the original versions and not the remakes, although the 70's version of Invasion is decent.

Science Fiction isn't really my kinda thing, but I have a soft spot for the Whoniverse. (Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures)
Big thanks to AskariNari for bringing one half of The Posies to Rock Band!

Peter David's a good writer. I've never read any of his novels, but his comic work has always been very entertaining.

I've never cared for Metropolis. I must be the only one.

Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin - yes. Metropolis - no.

I probably need to give Dick, Vance and Asimov another go, though, I was quite young when I first read anything by them.
No love for H.G. Wells? I actually am not that big on a lot of early science fiction writers except for Wells.

Yeah, Wells is good too. As is Jules Verne. Didn't think back far enough there.

Me and a friend were talking about this yesterday. As much as we're interested by cinema and its history, it's rarely much fun to watch silent classics. Eisenstein is very interesting, but watching Strike it was hard not to fall asleep. Charlie Chaplin, Max Linder and Buster Keaton are those that are certainly the most entertaining. Especially movies like The General or Modern Times.
It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now.
