Bah, my first CD was "Dare to be Stupid" back in the mid-'80s. Back then, I had to sell my internal organs to pay the rent.

Oh man, my first two concerts were both Weird Al (once in Westbury, NY and once in Wilkes-Barre, PA). He saves Albuquerque for the encore, and he performs a 20 MINUTE RENDITION. And things get weird. Some lady in the first row stood up and while the musicians were still doing the background riff, Al just goes "Hey! Sit back down! It's almost over, just give us 14 more minutes! *sigh* so anyways..." I love him so goshdarn much

The hold-up, last I heard, is that the labels don't want to start looking for masters until they have the money, and TAG don't want to do a Kickstarter until they know what masters are available.
Seems really awful of the label to be that way, i mean it's not like Tag will actually be holding the masters, they can at least tell the people what's available to grab and TAG can work from there.

Things can be a bit tricky, depending on who actually has the masters. It could be the producer of the tracks, the studio it was recorded at, possibly with the artist, or who knows where else. I imagine the label could feel that the time required to track them down and see the condition they're in is time worth compensation/guarantee that there will be compensation.

First album I ever bought was "In 3-D". ON TAPE.

<= Weird Al old-school cred intact.

Nudge. Weird Al is awesome, but discussion of Weird Al in general doesn't belong here (as opposed to any possibility of Weird Al in the RBN, which does.)

I think I had that one on tape too. I also own "Weird Al" and "Ploka Party" on LP.
