i don't know about overlap, but i've never bought and probably never will buy a Dance Central game. the only way i would buy a DC game is if they come out with DC Blitz and i can play it with my controller....

and if the songs export to RB3.

Clearly, there is extensive R&D time required to add lasers.

"Basically done" and "done" can be two vastly different things in software development. Often the last bits can take the most amount of time, whether it's chasing down elusive bugs or adjusting things just right for the perfect presentation and flow.

Or to put it a different way, Rock Band 3 was basically done when it was released.

Ahem. The proper term is "frickin' laser beams."
It's all right. Everything will work out fine.

Not a smart move, IMO....but it's their perogotive.
People compete with their own products all the time. However, Blitz and DC3 are two completely different products and they're not overlapping anyway; Blitz will be here in September at the latest (since summer officially ends 9/22 or so) and DC3 probably in late October/early November in order to prep for the holiday shopping season. Even if both were retail titles, I think one month of breathing space is enough (I mean, even RB3 and DC1 were released within two weeks of one another).

Bad news, Dance Central and Rock Band 3 have DLC competing every week. The DLC will also be competing with the other series' disc release. WHOOPS.

That's because most probably MTV and EA pushed for the a too early release date. Right now, with HMX completely indipendent, they can release stuff whenever they want, so they can check out all the errors and glitches how many times they want.

Right, I've heard it referred to as the "90-10 rule", where the last 10% can take up 90% of your development time.

(Also, 90% of processing time is spent in 10% of the code, but this isn't about performance).

That was basically my point, yes. Harmonix would be wise not to release a game that's "basically done," as RB&24Fanatic put it. First make sure it's really done.

There's a lot of 90-10 rules, they're not necessarily accurate, it's just for dramatic effect.
