Buying a 2 dollar song would give you guitar, bass, drums, pro drums, keys, and pro keys on RB3 and then a playable track on Rock Band Blitz! That makes buying DLC even sweeter :O
As I said, how well the cross-compatability works remains to be seen. I want to see how broken the Andromeda/Chaotrope/Evile/Dream Theater/etc charts are.

Good point. I wonder how the keys only RBN tracks will work out

So then my next hopeful point is that the game has fun achievements/trophies... and as many as possible.

Yeah, I read that too. Disappointing, but understandable.

    Joystiq says this:

However, you will not be able to export the disc-based Rock Band 3 tracks into Rock Band Blitz, since they don't reside on the hard drive. Asked whether Harmonix was working on an update to allow import of disc tracks as an option, a representative told us, "We don't have plans at this time."
***DELETE***Still unclear is whether RB1 or RB2 exports will work. RB2 was, I believe, loaded to the HD as DLC, so hopefully it'll work. RB1 tracks were loaded as game saves, so it depends on whether RBB supports that format. And we have previously had issues with re-licensing of tracks in the past (some of which was later fixed) as everyone is well aware.***DELETE***

*EDIT* - as pointed out in this post, RB1/RB2 exported content will work fine.

The press release specifically calls out RB1/2 exports as compatible:

How is this only a rumor? The G4 interview said 25.

Also, it's funny to me that I haven't read one comment wondering about a Rock Band 3 export. No one even cares.

ETA: oops people have just asked

Also also, I wonder if this could land them in hot water with some of the music rights holders. They're calling it part of the Rock Band platform, but it is totally different gameplay. I could see some of music people getting upset that they're property is now being used in a game they didn't approve or get extra upfront money for.

I wonder if they could get the digital version of RB3 working in Blitz at some point. If RB3 can read files from Blitz, perhaps there's a way they can go the opposite way.

We haven't seen the contracts, obviously, but it looks similar enough to RB, e.g. rhythm game with scrolling notes, that I don't see it being an issue. If anything, it's just a subset of RB with all the old GH screaming fluff and pinball bells added back in.

Added this to the OP, thanks.
