I think that this is a great idea for Harmonix. Get casual gamers playing a rhythm game with a standard controller to songs that they know and like. They can also buy into the thousands of available songs. When RB4 (or whatever) comes out, if they choose, they can give it a try. It will seem more familiar, and they'll be able to play all of those songs that they've gotten used to.

This will be a great way to get new players into the RB franchise while making more money for HMX. I'm excited for more songs... That's for sure.

    Hmm. Makes me wonder.

Will RB3 get a title update to have it know to look in the RBB game data when building the RB3 song library?

If so, might this be a chance for HMX to slip a few other bells and whistles into an RB3 title update?
    HMX prog by year:
    2007: 2
    2008: 18
    2009: 4
    2010: 4
    2011: 16
    2012: ZERO

Like the fixing Jet Noise, ahaha.

I think this could actually affect RB3 somewhat. With the new game, I believe this could really revitalize the series. Henceforth producing more than 3 songs a week! How exciting!

I would think it's more likely that RBB is designed to use existing RB folders.

    Here's a thought I don't think I saw mentioned yet:

Is Rock Band 3 going to have an export for this so that the on-disc songs can be recognized as DLC? I wonder how much that will cost.

Or will it recognize those songs some other way?
Remember that time I predicted RBN?

more interesting would be if they included a way to launch the arcade game from within RB3.

especially if you've got a huge DLC library and don't want to have to wait for it to reload when switching between games.

I know one thing bruther. They haven't revealed the other 20 songs yet dude but it better be one hell of a setlist for me to buy this bruther. Once bitten Twice Shy and Mental Health isn't going to sell me just yet bruther. I think it's cool you can transfer it to rock band 3 bruther but I'm not buying this for 2 songs I like bruther. The next 20 songs better be off the charts dude.

I guess I'm unclear how this side project affects RB3.

SCEE and wii are on hiatus
and for the last couple weeks DLC was "waiting for PAX East news".

    Does this mean:
    - 3 packs will be increased to 4 or 5 now that the "extra 25 songs" were squeezed into the workload the last couple months.
    - RB DLC will be more modern / pop'ish for the Blitz crowd (versus guitar heavy RB3 crowd)
    - I guess I dont understand the whole SCEE and WII on hiatus. Maybe more servers are being configured for something even larger like RB: Blitz for iphones.

Plus can't we just purchase once bitten twice shy and Mental Health when the game comes out bruther? They make it sound like it's DLC pal?
