[QUOTE=Mileycyrussoulja;4745007]are you f*cking serious
you really like overworking this guy don't youQUOTE]
It's not that I enjoy overworking this guy, it's that I had an idea for a 12 pack of extrememly long songs that I gave to AnAnimalAsLeader, but he stopped doing it before he got to mine. As this person has a 2-song limit, I'm breaking the pack up into six pieces of two songs each.
And the scary thing is, out of the 12 songs that I had picked, more than half of them stretch for more than an hour.
Well, that wouldn't necessarily be true. Dopesmoker by Sleep (one of the songs that will be requested later) and The Great Barrier Reefer by Bongripper both are from a genre of music known as doom metal. That means slow-as-sh*t guitar riffs throughout, shouted (in Dopesmoker) vocals (the only thing in TGBR that can count as vocals would be a reading of various texts in the first six minutes because it is all instrumental after that), bass complementing the guitar, and steady drums with a few fun-ish fills.
The other song I requested, Light Of Day Day Of Darkness, is a progressive metal wonder and may be the best song on this thread so far, but that is a tough call.
In case anyone would wonder what the remaining songs that will be requested in the future are, here is the full list that I put on AnAnimalAsLeader's tiering thead all the way back in December. The song lengths are in parenthesis.
I know. It is going to be INSANE!!! I must have some sort of sick obsession with epic-length songs. XD
Uploading everything now. Will post again momentarily when everything is together.
This was a good guess, just because you went for an album instead of an artist. The colour and FF hints pointed towards an album (or rather, EP) name. Just a fairly obscure one. Alas, Deep Purple is not the artist.
The Pink Floyd hint pointed towards the band name, tho. Kool-Aid Man essentially pointed towards one of the band's albums and the band themselves. I'll explain when I update.
I got the icons by screencapping this page and carefully editing away the background and any residual transparency issues in GIMP. Then I just copied the icons over to a Paint document and saved them in a separate file for easy access. This is also why the icon for harmonies is the same in every tier I do, whether there's two- or three-part harmonies.
The actual template for the tiers (frame, brown and gray boxes, instrument icons) I made myself in another Paint document which is also separately saved for easy access. Then it's just a matter of using Paint to copy/paste the difficulty pips, album art, and type in the album/artist info. Making the actual tier is easy, it's doing the research to make them fairly accurate that takes a while.
Fair enough. It was just an assumption on my part beforehand, but I do plan on listening to the entire songs regardless, just to get the tiering as accurate as I can.
We need some ELO!

Journey's Greatest Hits: Rock Band Edition
- Only the Young
- Lights
- Stone in Love
- Faithfully
- Who's Crying Now
- Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)
- Don't Stop Believing (RB3 Version)
- Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'
- Open Arms
- Send Her My Love
- Any Way You Want It (RB3 Version)
- Wheel in the Sky
Hint explanations:
- Kool-Aid Man points to the Atari 2600 game based on Journey's album Escape. The band's manager is represented as Kool-Aid Man in-game.
- Piper at the Gates of Dawn points to a segment of one of Pink Floyd's early live shows, "The Man and the Journey".
- The use of the word "colour" and FF7 points towards the name of Journey's first EP, Red 13. (FF7 has a character called "Red XIII".)
And now for requests.
Thanks!
Starless <-- We need this in RB
Repent Walpurgis
Echo Beach <-- Sax made the keys tier a pill, admittedly
Who Don't Like Kids
Bat Out of Hell
Angel of Death <-- I imagine this might have a few pitched vocal parts to sing, but it'd still be mostly talkies
Purple Stain <-- Drum outro puts "Killing in the Name" to shame. Borderline devil-tier.
The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Thank you.
Death on Two Legs (Dedicated To...) <-- Needs to be in the next Queen pack
Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper <-- Was surprised how tame the drums were in comparison to most DT stuff I've heard
Glad you like them!
Born to Be Wild <-- Guitar is much harder than it sounds. 5-fret stretches frequently in the song
Can't Get Next to You <-- We need more music like this in RB
And indeed they were. 'Specially Abney Park.
Airship Pirate <-- This song is awesome
Dance of Death
We need some ELO!
Just some music I make... http://www.reverbnation.com/soconfined
I cheated and found the pack out before you said who it was.
Two more songs:
"The Man Upstairs"-Pain
"Zero Distance"-Dark Tranquility
