One of the devs at PAX joked that he "can't confirm or deny harmonies," but I played Don't Stop Me Now and the chart is just pulled from the solo vocal track. There are never more than 5 tracks.
I still think you ought to. If the rights holders weren't offended by the idea then anybody else being offended shouldn't matter, at least in terms of the subject matter. If there are objections to the way it works mechanically then I can understand that. This makes me tempted to go ahead and release 4'33"
Hilariously, if it was released as proposed (and if I remember right) with a single note on each instrument authored to mark the end of the song, it'd be exceptionally silly in this game since a player would only be able to hit one of them... the leaderboard would be topped by the people who manage to squeeze in two by playing them early and late, if that even ends up being possible.
Actually, it'll be interesting to see how the engine reacts to a song like this. It fades out the gameplay tracks when there are long sections of silence, to emphasize the tracks where stuff is happening... I wonder how it handles sections with nothing happening on any track. I suppose we'll be able to see this just as well in the keyboard solos of RB1-era The Who songs.
You know, I think I will release it. This game just made it suddenly more appealing

I thought the reasoning behind not getting 4'33" was because it would make it seem like a joke track instead of the piece of music theory analysis that it is. I would definitely buy it, and it would get definitely get played. Nucleose loves that song.

There's just one track. We've tested it and it works. Some of the powerups are a little weird in those cases, but everyone has the same shot at a high score, so we figured it was OK.
There's just one vocal track. We use the solo vocal for generating the gems.
Yeah, that would be awesome. But it's really not possible at this point, sorry!
So... Song of the Century is hilariously awesome with the pinball powerup. Please, what are these other songs with only one track? I want them all.
