I've had the opposite reaction. When my friends and I were putting on semi-regular RB parties, the newer people were intimidated by the drums/pro drums, and most of them flat out refused to try it. The instrument they always went for was the guitar.

Sounds like he's already made up his mind, as frustrating as it is. Maybe he'll come around one day to want to give it a try, but that will probably come of his own accord.

His 50th Birthday is this October. I had hoped he'd go nuts for Rock Band (I really thought he would) and then I was going to get him an XBOX, RB3 and a Mustang. Think I'm going to buy him new tools instead.

    *BIG sigh*

Hey it could be worse...in my circle of friends we had one who wouldn't try Diablo 2 for like 4 or 5 years despite the insistence of others in the circle. And then once he finally did try it, he was hooked solid. (And eventually mocked, since most everyone had played it out and moved on to other games)

It is now a running joke to suggest various out of date fads to this guy as something new and hip that he should check out.

It's about now that you should start telling him the cake is a lie.

This is exactly why I never played Diablo II. I was so hooked on the first one that even trying the second one could turn my already pretty unproductive ass into a hikikomori type.

Sky, I'm sorry to hear that your brother won't give Rock Band a shot, even for your birthday. Sometimes the hard sell is too much, though; give it a rest and try again sometime in a few months.

Yes, in that situation, be very happy you didn't. D2 was leaps and bounds better than D1, and D1 was already an awesome (but still flawed) game.

Keep your chin up Skyp1e, maybe you can initiate some interest with your brother when Blitz comes out. Hope springs eternal.

I can sure relate to your disappointment though. I had a similar situation this weekend when I went to vistit my brother. I even brought several track packs along (country & lego) that I thought would be more to his liking. He respectfully declined. He has played with me, a time or two, but he hasn't been "hooked" at this point. Ugh.

On the other hand, your kids love playing with you, and that's just AWESOME!!! A lot of us are doomed to play by ourselves or "online" because our families just don't get our Rockband addiction.
