Zappa fans: check out "Short and Sweet" from LRB

I finally got a copy of Lego Rock Band, and was really pleased to discover "Short and Sweet" by Spinal Tap fulfilled some of my Frank Zappa cravings.

It really reminded me of Zappa when I first listened to it; so I looked it up and discovered it features Steve Vai on guitar, who has worked a lot with Zappa.

Check it out if you haven't played it! LRB is a fun play through as well.

Yeah, I know, old news, but new to me.

One of the most messed-up guitar charts in the entire catalog. Zero fun to play on guitar. Lego actually has quite a few of these, with "Naive," "Kung Fu Fighting," and to a lesser extent "Want You Back" also completely messed-up.

I don't much enjoy the song either. I played through it on bass for completionism's sake, got what I'm pretty sure was 99 percent and gold stars, and haven't touched the song since (in RB3, that is).

Steve Vai is a very prolific session musician; he's played with so many people that you're bound to find many songs on RB that have his performance on it. He even has some solo efforts on RBN.

The name of that song is very ironic. It really wears out its welcome.

While the guitar is frustrating, I think it's fun. Reminds me of Steely Dan type guitar work. What irks me is the vocals; was never a fan of Spinal Tap's cutesy, quasi-funny lyrics.
AsianSteev: if you can read this, put more Ska songs on the RBN! Please?

Thanks for reminding me once again how Rock Band sorely lacks the music of Frank Zappa

I'm going to probably regret linking this >_>

It saddens me to think about how many people haven't bothered to check out the Spinal Tap DLC because this terrible song was their introduction to the band. Spinal Tap has 16 songs on the Rock Band platform and the worst one of them all is the only one that made it onto a disc.

You said it...he's one of the greatest musicians of all time.

I must admit when I heard "Short and Sweet" it didn't remind me of Zappa's music. It's a fun song though.

Tastes vary of course. I thought it was a blast to play on drums and vocals, I haven't tried the guitar chart yet. There are lots of non-singing tambourine sections on vox, so some won't like that. Anyway, I was happy to get a partial Zappa fix.
