Where to buy a microphone for Rock band?

Ive been looking at several sites and they dont have the regular rock band microphones in stock. So I have to buy a regular usb microphone from somewhere. Only thing is that I dont know where to buy a cheap one and if it will work with rock band (ive heard the ones that need software to install wont work). The only one I have found in my price range is the Nady Usb-24 M usb microphone at musiciansfriend, would this microphone work with rock band. I also find it weird that it has a on/off switch on it.

    Any input is appreciated.

The answer to your question depends on your console.

If you're on the Wii, you have the least selection, and the Wii console is (mostly) only compatible with USB microphones manufactured by Logitech (either direct branding, or OEM like the Rock Band stock microphones). Note that the Wii Speak microphone does NOT work for any version of Rock Band. Any game-related USB microphone from other music games for the Wii (Boogie, Glee, High School Musical, etc.) will also work, regardless of manufacturer. If you can't find any of the game-related ones for less than, oh, $25 or so, you should be able to find the Logitech Vantage microphone, which is pretty decent for that price, and will work for any console type.

On the 360, a few other options become available, as the wireless Xbox 360 Lips microphones do work for Rock Band 3 (but watch out for very large amounts of input lag). A few other USB microphones also work, but you're going to have to do some research to see which ones do or don't (I don't own an Xbox 360 so I cannot advise you here from personal experience). I have seen confirmation that the Nady USB 24M specifically DOES work on the Xbox 360.

On the PS3, "most" USB microphones will work, aside from the 360-exclusive Lips mics. In addition to that, the PS2/PS3-exclusive SingStar microphones also work on the PS3 - both the wired and wireless versions (the wireless SingStar microphones are exclusive to Europe, and also have the same input lag problem that the Lips microphones do).

Check your Best Buy to see if they still have $15 Singstar 2-mic Party Pac + Dance.

As I mentioned above, this is only an option if you're playing on PS3. SingStar microphones do not work for non-PlayStation consoles.

    Play it again!

Okay my best advice on this the same as the other 2 threads on this topic. Search Gamestop for used Logitech mics. If you have one or more that is/are all crackly, you have nothing to lose by doing Doc's Mic mod (see the other threads and links on this) and soldering the old USB mics in such a way as they accept 1/4" (or XLR) inputs. Then you can use real mics in RB.

    Mucho bettero.
