Removing things from the iTunes store is one thing, and happens all the time. But actually disabling an app that somebody bought and paid for already is an entirely different ballpark altogether.

I'm not sure I'd call them "evil", but their efforts to increase their revenue have gone from creative into deceptive right into petty and mean-spiritied. Unfortunately, they have a number of well-made titles that, I can see why people keep buying their stuff despite being furious at the company. Fortunately, I already have backlog of games that I haven't played yet (or even opened, in some cases), so I can stand strong and resist buying any of their games until they stop being so ... cheap.

Or, some would say, evil.

Yeah, from any other company, I'd believe it was an honest mistake, but it just seems like something they might do (both the expiring of the game, and also denying that it was done on purpose). People will judge you by your past behavior.

I don't know that it was HMX removing Phase, but Apple changing the games section of iTunes to push for games compatible on iPod Touch and the ilk. Plus, until I wiped my iPod classic, I was able to play Phase even though it wasn't available in the iTunes store anymore.

...which I suppose means HMX should perhaps make Phase compatible on iPod, iPhone, and iPad (pretty please? ).
