Which midi keyboards are compatible with RB3

Is there someplace that lists which keyboards are compatible, and which keyboards are not compatible with RB3?

I would like to order some midi adapters for the pro instruments, but before I do, I would like to know what keyboards work.

If there isn't a list somewhere, can we get a mod to make a sticky thread that we the players can add keyboard info to as we discover which ones work and which don't?

If a keyboard has MIDI out, it works.

Not all MIDI outs are created equal. Very old midi keyboards sometimes have problems. I have a Roland A80 that wasn't supported by a midi-to-computer interface hardware that I bought not so long ago. Generally though, it will be surprising if it doesn't work. I'll try the A80 when my midi pro interface arrives and update then.

To save folks the trouble of wading through a multi-language PDF manual, here are the devices they claim to have tested. This of course is not a complete list of what works.
    Keys: M-Audio Axiom 25, CME Key 49, Behringer UMX-25, Behringer UMX-25s, Akai MPK-25
Drums: Roland HD-1, Yamaha DT Explorer, Yamaha DD65, Alesis DM5

For drums, the important thing will be if you are able to modify the midi note sent when you strike each drum. It is designed to trigger the "Red" drum (red drum, red drum, red drum) for MIDI notes 31, 34, 37, 38, 39, 40. If you can't modify it and your kit doesn't send the right note for each drum, you are hosed.

Happy shopping to you! I've had the Axiom 25 mentioned above for a couple of years, and I love it. Still, I bought the RB3 keyboard controller instead of opting for the MIDI adapter simply for the convenience of having a lightweight, portable, wireless controller specifically for the game. Game controller stays in the living room, Axiom stays in the computer room. If your first priority in choosing a keyboard is how well it'll work with RB3, the official peripheral is a pretty good choice for the price.

Can anyone recommend a specific keyboard that works with RB and lights up chords on the keyboard? I really want to learn to play the keys, but just chords. Like if I want to play a C# Minor, I want it to light up the keys I am supposed to press. Thanks guys!

I do not believe that any keyboards that offer lighting (such as some Yamaha and Casio keyboards) will translate that information from the RB3 game to the keyboard. If I'm wrong about that someone please step in and correct me.

If you want lighted keys for outside of game play, then yes there are personal keyboards (in the "prosumer" lines) that will do that.

Any keyboard with a standard MIDI out will work with the MPA. I use a M-Audio Axiom 25 myself, but it does not have lighted keys.

Since the connection between the keys and the MPA is strictly one way, displaying the key chart on the keyboard is a definite non-starter.

    But then, you knew that.
