Thread: Pintechs

    Pintechs

I am going to be buying three of the Pintech cymbals. I still haven't figured out which sizes would be best...3 10s, a 10 and 2 14s...I just don't know. So I was wondering what y'all out there with an Ion kit have for your cymbals. I was also considering the Alesis 12" hi-hat, but I've been told that they are the same as the stock Ion cymbals, which are ****.

Also, will I need to buy any clamps, mounting hardware, etc.? I can't find anything anywhere that states what comes with these cymbals.

Any help on what I need to get would be greatly appreciated!

I'd go with the Pintech TC with 10 or 12" for the hi-hat and 14 or 16" for the crash/ride. They're tons better than the ION cymbals. If you get 'em from NEMS, they won't come with anything but the cymbal heads. If you buy them from hope drums (http://hopedrums.com/RockBand%20Special.htm) you can get it with a rod/clamp to mount it on. You can just use the standard ION ones for that, though.

You will not need any new mounting hardware. In fact Pintech cymbals are better off on the Ion cymbal stands since they don't rotate on them like they do others.

I would get a 10" for hi hat and ride and a 14" fror crash. Thats what I had been using till I got a Yamaha PCY130 for a hi hat recently. The 10" works great and has a nice feel but the 14" bends in when you hit it. It took some time to get used to that but now I like the feel but only for a crash. For a hi hat or ride it's to floppy and has no rebound.

That's not entirely true... if you buy the cymbal alone, it won't come with anything. If you buy a package, much alike the one you linked, they come with everything you need.

the 10's are tiny and the 14s are huge.

Dont understand why they dont make 12s.

I recently got the cymbal pack from hope drums after creating my cymbal thread (it's not that far down the list lol). I got a 10" and 2 14" cymbals and they seem pretty good to me so far. Still getting used to having to cross stick for the hi hat though lol.

I got a 10" ZBH2 for Hi-Hat and 2x14" ZB for snare & crash. They feel right for me, but I am not a real drummer. I use Aquarian springs on the 14" cymbals, which means they sit right and feel right on my cheapo drumkit.

Not true. In fact, using Pintech cymbals on the wedge-shaped rotation stopper that the Ion cymbals use can severely damage the Pintech cymbals. If you're going to use the Ion cymbal arm, take that rotation stopper off, and replace it with some cymbal sleeves and felts.

Listen to davidshek, he types real truths! I removed those wedge shaped cymbal bits from my Session Pro DD kit. For the Hi-Hat I had to do a little felt modding to get it to sit right. The aquarian springs worked out great for crash and ride.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I'm gonna go with 3 10s. Trying to save every bit of dough I can.
