When RB3 released, I remember the whole RB3 version debates, reactions, whining, and general storm that followed. It seems that many fans were just unwilling to invest in RB3 versions and felt that they were a bad idea. Harmonix seemed to take this to heart. But when the question of upgrading songs to add in keys was brought up, the reply was simply that it was possible due to mixing and stem issues. A second problem seemed to lie in finding a suitable price-point for these.
Well, two years later, I'm still left feeling a pang of sadness as a heavy Pro-Keys player when faced with songs such as Final Countdown, Carry on My Wayward Son, Viva La Gloria, songs by the Cars, the Who, Neon Trees, and a number of other songs. I hear the keys, the violins, the horns, the synthesizers, the organs... and I wish so deeply that I could play those keys. Knowing for a long while it wasn't possible bothered me, but I've continued to grow my keys collection.
A few weeks ago, we had the release of some songs by Green Day which were from GDRB. HMXHenry informed the community that there was a (good) chance that we could see pro-upgrades for some Green Day songs- something which had formerly been deemed impossible. It ignited a hope that maybe now we could gain keys in some of the songs that I wish had them.
But the question of pricing is a tough one. Perhaps upgrades as a pack? Upgrading songs by the Who or the Cars in a pack? Upgrading RB1 or RB2 or LRB? And this is even a moot point if keys upgrades were still an impossibility or one that isn't financially smart for HMX.
So, I welcome any constructive thoughts.
