    Oi.
Just to point out that "ad hominem" is a fallacy that's basically short for "you're an idiot, therefore no matter how the facts are in your favor, you're wrong." You're looking for "deus ex machina."

Also, I'm pretty sure they're trying to make Asami a good person who could potentially turn her father away from the Equalists for his own sake. She may break up with Mako, but in terms of fighting composition, she's the Sokka of the group (even if temperamentally Bolin's the Sokka of the group)--the group needs a non-bender, particularly since the underlying theme of the Equalist arc is "benders and non-benders should be on equal footing."

Besides which, Asami's awesome. She could be the Robin to Lin's Batman.

Yeah, I did mean that; I think I was half awake or had ad hominem on the brain for some reason. Thanks for that catch.

What an end to the first season.

I always had that feeling that Amon's story was likely fabricated turns out I was right.

I'm really curious what will happen in the second season.

I highly doubt Amon will be coming back.
Unless he takes up a new identity.

Should be interesting to see where they go with next season considering Amon is more than likely gone, Korra can airbend now, and I'm assuming she can control the avatar state as well?

Now that she has connected with the spirit world also, I hope we see more of Aang.

Holy hell did that finale go to dark places. I had floated the idea of Tarrlok and Amon being brothers but stopped the moment the two of them faced off against one another. Guess I was being played by Bryke/Dante, who probably figured that would happen.

My jaw dropped at the fratri/suicide. The single tear Noatok shed made me think he also knew what was about to happen, but I totally wasn't expecting that on a kid's show. I mean, holy crap.

And that's why I thought Korra was at least contemplating suicide at the very end there, just before everything went back up. Heavily implied fratri/suicide is one thing--and the pull back is an easy enough out to allow one or both to come back in the future--but there's no way they'd ever outright depict the hero even THINKING about suicide, so they switched to the POV shot of her looking over that precipice, and hot damn was it crazy dark.

I loved this season and am looking forward to seeing how the next one comes along.

    My only complaint:

The Makko-Korra relationship is one of the most forced romances I've ever seen. People thought Aang and Katara was forced, but at least they had chemistry. Not once in this whole show have I felt any real chemistry between Korra and Makko. She and Bolin had better chemistry for one solid episode than with Makko this entire show. He is still a massive D-bag for the way he treated Asami. She lost EVERYTHING and was looking to him for support and he chases another girl around right in front of her. There was a moment where I thought he'd finally pull his head out of his rear end but that was for naught.

But, that is one dropped ball in light of so many they did right.

I mean holy crap that finale was amazing. Just when you think there's going to be a massive slugfest between Iroh's fleet and the Equalists, AIRPLANES! The big reveal about Amon's backstory was something else, and the last scene with him and Tarlok was outright shocking considering the network it's supposed to be on. A great example of just how the show has grown up with its audience and can deal with more mature themes.

What an awesome show this has been. Can't wait for the second season! Provided Amon isn't actually barbecued fish food, I hope they can come up with an antagonist as good as him.
    Weird Al Yankovich DLC please?

I agree that situation could have been handled better.

So would you guys say that so far this show is better, not as good as, or about the same quality wise as the original show?

In spite of the shortcomings of the romantic subplot, I still think Legend of Korra is a superior show. Tighter pacing, higher stakes, and an incredibly fleshed out world that builds on the established one without retreading old territory. The production values consistently knocked it out of the ballpark. Every frame felt like it was made with love.

Yeah The Legend of Korra has The Last Airbender beat as far as the first season goes.
