Yeah the You Rock Guitar is awesome and all you need is a small cartridge to connect it via bluetooth to your specific game console. The tracking is great and they just released a new firmware update about 3 months ago that really ironed out any additional issues and added extra support for RB3 pro mode! For the price it's a great controller and will also give you tools to learn and play the guitar for real!

Here's my only real tip for pro guitar: Like playing real guitar, don't focus too hard on replicating the recorded version of the song 100%. For a song like Polly (by Nirvana) I think it's perfectly fine if you pay less attention to the game and more to making sure your hand placement/formation is accurate, and if that means accidentally strumming when you're supposed to be sustaining a chord, oh well, so be it.

Also, if there's a song that is in your difficulty range, but has solos that are beyond you, don't be afraid to play the song consistently anyways. Once you're at the point where you can play the song without really thinking about what your hands are doing, then you should use the trainers/practice mode to really nail down the solos. And if the solo in question is a solo with a lot of bending, don't worry about it, since bends do not translate well into pro charts at all.
I went to Harmonix and ordered a pepperoni pizza. Instead, they gave me a cheese pizza and told me that I could buy one pepperoni slice every week.

Yeah, but that's only if you want to play in GRYBO mode, which most won't (not with the YRG, anyway). And that works independently of the MIDI adapter regardless.
