I think I know what you mean. But instead of having separate DLC for both titles and can be played on either, they will continue to release diverse DLC as they have been for the past 4 or 5 years. Lets face it, what other music games can you play Johnny Cash, Lady GaGa, Bruno Mars, Bee Gees, Coldplay and Iron Maiden in one session should you wish?
Exactly!
I don't think its viable though, and it will get confusing since both would be playable in either Blitz or RB3. If you want HMX to continue releasing a wide variety of DLC, then people need to buy it. If it doesn't sell well, then it may be encouraged not to return to that artist or any similar artist for that matter.
It was a fair question and definitely not a stupid one in any way.
Come on lets give these 5 artists some DLC love please!
Bruce Springsteen
Mumford and Sons
Fine Young Cannibals
Ocean Colour Scene
Feeder
They don't need to to anything like have separate DLC streams. They can just target some songs more towards Blitz by promoting them more in the Blitz store UI than the RB store UI. Or by putting some Blitz footage in the usual release trailers, using the ones that seem more Blitz-friendly.
If they show Blitz footage in the trailers, it would probably be because they have a new game they want to promote. We've already seen Blitz previews with Bang Camaro, Rock the Casbah, Never Gonna Give You Up, and Raining Blood, all of which predate Blitz by several months.
This. Considering the qualities and merits of each track are completely subjective, it's impossible to choose songs that are specifically for Blitz because some tracks may only have three instruments but be a blast on Blitz, whereas others may have more tracks but less dense note-wise. Some people will enjoy the lessened density, others will not.
Furthermore, since each track is algorithmically generated at loadtime, things may change if, for example, they decide to alter the algorithm after playtests show a few songs which are too tetchy or whatever. (Not likely to happen, but still.) Thus, songs that were horrible beforehand become excellent, and those that used to be great turn less great.
Just food for thought.

I do think it'd be kind of cool if they released some packs with obviously Frequency-inspired song choices, maybe even remixes.
I also wonder if RBN authors will choose to pursue more techno-ish songs to take advantage of the Blitz compatibility
