The Blu-Ray license is held by a consortium of companies, of whom Sony is one.

If the rumors I'm hearing about the hardware are true, then they're basically abandoning the high end. The rumored GPU in the 720 is the same as is allegedly in the APU at the heart of the PS4/Orbis, and that has another more powerful GPU on top of that.

As far as the price is concerned, apart from keeping a PPC CPU in there for backwards compatibility, that's a hittable target - it's not like the Kinect hardware costs much of anything, and the tech that allegedly is going into the 720 would've been disappointing if it were coming out last year, let alone if it were coming out next year.

I refuse to believe they would use a name that stupid. As we saw with the Xbox 360, the pattern is to take a great code name (Xenon) and turn it into a stupid console name (Xbox 360), not the other way around. (Though there is precedence for stupid fake rumor names: remember all of the "Xbox Next" speculation? Ugh.)

Nintendo is the best at coming up with stupid names, both console and handheld. Although Xbox does somehow ruin good code names (Natal > Kinect)
