Watched Act of valor yesterday, and remembering some of the reviews wanted me to puke. They all hated the acting but praised the fighting scenes. Well what the hell, they're not actors but marines. If I could I would drop kick roger ebert in his messed up face. This is no horribly bad movie, but the last fight scene really lets you down.

Hmm, tell me if I'm being too cynical.

The movie "Ted" released this weekend, and so far it's getting a lot of positive reviews. But I could never get into the "Live-Action-CGI Family Flick + dick jokes" premise. Or maybe I could, it if wasn't done by Seth McFarlane. I didn't find the trailers funny, I thought the jokes in the ads were very meh, and though I haven't seen the film, I don't see how this could be what some are calling "Best Comedy of the Year." Maybe I'm being cynical. I don't know. You tell me.

It's the only movie this year of this caliber. Just as all the old movies quoted as best comedy of the year (Superbad, 40 year old virgin, Knocked Up), they all ran by themselves to be considered such. Plus people like to quote things to their friends to make themselves sound cool so add a couple dick jokes and BOOM!

This one reminds me of Hangover, i thought that movie was terrible and this one looks just as bad.

True, there hasn't been too many "big" comedies this year. Just the heartfelt, non-offensive stuff.

Hah, glad to see Black Sheep getting some <3. Great timing on the review.

I can't say I'm jumping at the chance to see Ted. I don't mind frat/lowbrow humor movies at all, but the trailer didn't impress, and I never really get into the whole live action + CGI character shtick when it's surrounded by bad jokes.

Having said that, bring back movies like Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal, plzkthnx.

So.... anyone watched The Doom Generation since I mentioned it earlier? Seriously, people, you don't want to miss that one...

I guess I ought to also mention this "Blood of Beasts" abomination that I made the mistake of getting from Netflix last year. Objectively, it's probably only a minor offender compared to truly spectacularly bad movies, but it hurts, it really hurts, it's so depressingly bad rather than hilariously bad. It gets everything wrong in the dullest way possible.
If these walls could talk, the stories they'd tell,
and if they did, there'd be a whole lot of hell.

The Araki film? I think I've seen it once, been meaning to go through Araki's filmography again.

Yes. That one. Made with real Rose McGowan.

Yeah, I don't remember a lot of it. I think Mysterious Skin and Nowhere were my favorite films he's done if I recall correctly. I aught to check if anything by Araki is on netflix.
