First Impressions time! Hopefully this week will kick ASS, since I haven't been too crazy about the recent weeks. But I will never give up hope that something super cool will come my way
All American Rejects, Mudvayne, and Rise Against Singles First Impressions
Let's start with Satellite, since that name is awesome and I can picture the song orbiting in the filled space that is my mind.
Starts off nice and easy with soft instruments, but the vocals are indeed awesome. I like the vocalist of Rise Against. He really works well with the instruments and has a great voice. Oh hey, I've heard this song before! Hell, this is one of the few albums I've listened to from start to finish. And I remember only liking 2 songs from it, and this wasn't one of them :/
But right now, I'm digging it. The bassline is pretty interesting, even though I can't imagine it being that fun to play. And the vocalist is still being awesome. It feels like what I would call an average song by the band, since it's pretty good but it can't compare to their fantastic songs. Oh snap, the break is really interesting and cool and the buildup to the stronger parts is fun. THE INSTRUMENT BREAK IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. URGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Glad they're shaking things up. Easily a song for guitarists and vocalists/harmonists(?). A good song, but not a great one.
Happy? is UP NEXT! Wooooooooooooooooo
Starts off pretty strong and it contrasts pretty well with the last song I just heard. The bass and guitar work fantastic together! Even though the vocalist is something I would much rather want to go away, the instruments are too interesting and varied to not be fascinated by the song. Everything about the instruments screams out "fun and interesting" and they work so well together. Too bad I dislike the vocalist. He just... doesn't work. His voice never really varies and at it's basic singing, it feels weird to listen to. And look, they do an instrument break too! Too bad it's not epic, because the vocalist doesn't do anything different and his bad voice is on full display. The harmonies aren't too interesting either. Ehhhhhhhh, the song's second half wasn't as interesting as the first half. I kinda liked it, though.
Gonzo is up last!

Is this song playing or what?
I think it is... but it's so... quiet...
Alright, the drum pedal is showing it's face. The drum intro is alright and sets the mood for the song. Which is weird, because I never really got the "soft and melodic" vibe from The All American Rejects. I imagined them to be a goofily pop punky band, which kinda worked for them. This approach... can't say I'm too thrilled about it. The song I'm reminded of most is The Adventure, and The Adventure does the soft and meaningful push much better to me. The guitar does this really cool and weird thing after the chorus, but throughout the rest of the song nothing really pops out. Hmmmmmmm. Actually, that's pretty cool. Now that the guitar is done with the cool thing it was doing, everything went ballistic, which felt so much fun. But the vocalist... it seems so weird and unlike AAR to go this way. Oh well. Perhaps I'm just the crazy one. The instruments start off bad and get better, but the feel of the song just feels.. weird.
This week overall... was pretty ok! I personally prefer the last singles week, but this week isn't too shabby. I can't imagine that it will vanish the constant complaints as of late, which saddens me

oh well! There's always next week to have hope!
In the grand scheme of things, this week would be below the last singles week, but ahead of the P!nk pack. It's not bad even though it's the lower half, but the DLC of this year has just been THAT amazing.
