donating an xbox and dlc, how to do it?

so my xbox red-ringed a while back and i got a ps3 to replace the poor thing. i figure with all the dlc i have on there for rock band, i should donate it instead of sell it. it'd be great for children's hospitals (or perhaps even rig them up in the back of ambulances for interfacility transfers...) and who wouldn't want to hear some kids belting out devildriver in the icu! =P

i was wondering if anyone has ever done this before, and how would this work? i am willing to pay for fixing the xbox and upgrading the drums with something like the goodwoodmod, but i want to make sure they can use the dlc i have on there. i don't want them to have access to my credit card information though.

they can play the dlc on it as long as it's the xbox that it was originally downloaded on. Or was license transferred to it

I would suggest doing a license transfer to make sure all DLC is set to your xbox. then you have to re-download it all to make it work.
after that, you should be able to delete your profile (make a new one as well, to try it out on) and all the DLC should still work.

Children's Hospitals won't accept used clothes and stuff but I donate DVD's and video games to them all the time. I even get a receipt for tax purposes. Azerkail. First call them and ask them if they could use it. They may only want the family friendly stuff but what you could do is ask them if they want the XBOX, if not, ask them if they would like the games with all the accessories and do a license transfer of the DLC to them and then they are free to censor and delete all they want. Trust me, those kids need the entertainment and love much more than Dorks.

Childrens hospitals will accept used toys, games and such things as long as they can be easily sanitized and certainly an xbox and drums could be. Sadly one of the problems hospitals experience is that video games and dvds are stolen very frequently so these items are sometimes politely refused. The local hospitals that I have dealings with have to keep toys, crafts, dvds and video games locked up unless someone from Child Life is present.

Perhaps somewhere like your local childens cancer centre could make better use of your xbox and drums? Or maybe a childrens home. A hospital is a great idea but things do tend to disappear OR get locked up and not appreciated.

The big problem with Rock Band as a gift for a hospital or other such institution is noise. Some of those places have isolated rooms where kids can play to their hearts content without bothering others, but some don't. You should definitely call and ask and make sure they have an adequate play space, even if they're willing to accept the donoation.
